My mom was down this weekend. My mom is awesome. I have plenty of evidence. I could ramble off things like how she's been down every other weekend since Jamie was born to help out and give us a break. How she lends me her car without question whenever I need it (side note, she bought a Jeep to visit in instead of her beloved Mustang because the car seats wouldn't fit). And that all these years, even when we didn't always get along she's provided nothing but love and support. And then there are things like this:
Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is 6 cans of maple syrop fresh from the Townships. A years supply without being frugal. That is love!
The last few weekends that she's been down I haven't seen her all that much. I'm usually running around trying to get things I can't normally do with an infant around done. Instead this weekend I took off from trying to do everything. I've been making great progress on my pre-cure projects so there was no guilt. Lots of chilling, relaxing, movie watching and reading happened. I even got some knitting started.
A pair of children's mittens to replace the pair I made Willipus which got accidentally felted. My yarn stash is starting to reach the point where I don't have much left for larger projects without combining half balls and ends. I've got stuff set aside for a couple of larger projects, a bolero for myself and a sweater for Willipus when I can finally settle on a pattern I like. In the meantime I'm liking this little pocket projects.
Sunday afternoon I got a real treat. While my mom was doing my aunts income taxes (I swear she does taxes for fun!) and my husband home thanks to his new work schedule, I was able go to the Spin-In at Espace interstitiel. Had a great time! Got to play with my turkish drop spindle and need some awesome spinners. I came home with a big smile on my face and a bag full of fiber treasure!
From Right to left: Merino top in colourway Riverstone, and again in Cranberry, then some Alpaca/silk in Dark Chocolate and Faun. While my yarn stash may be dwindling I've got lots fiber to start filling in the gaps.
