Since check out time at the campground was one I didn't set the alarm. Wouldn't you know it I was awake before 7 am. I refused to get up before 8. We took our time this morning as it is an easy 3 hour drive to Madison from Davenport. We took US Highway 61 north to Dubuque and picked up US Highway 151 which is now 4 lane all the way to Madison. We stopped at Mound View restaurant in Belmont for lunch. This has become our favorite stopping place ever since it opened 2 years ago. It is part of the BP service station and has parking for trucks and motorhomes. I had the Turkey Melt was was tasty, Wayfinder had the Cheeseburger and we split an order of Onion Tanglers.
We rolled into Fitchburg about 3:30 and parked in front of our friends house. L went to high school with our son. They have graciously invited us to their parties and celebrations when we are in town. We visited a bit and then scouted out a couple of parking places. We have a couple of business parking lots we can use for a few days at a time until the campground opens.
We then went for supper to Sa Bai Thong. we had not been to a Thai restaurant for ever so long. We had two of our favorite dishes, Pad Thai with chicken and Seeda Longsong with beef. I think they were the items we ordered at the first Thai restaurant we ever ate at. Tonight's dishes were particularly fine examples of the dishes. My only issue is I prefer my broccoli cooked a little longer. The server asked if we wanted take home boxes and never brought them. Wayfinder finally had to go to the cashier to request the boxes. Initially the service was prompt and courteous but my water glass never got refilled and we waited quite a long time for the bill to be delivered and then she asked if we wanted "to go" boxes which she never brought. I hope she was just having an off night. We will eat there again on the chance that this was a one time occurrence.
I had forgotten to refill my prescriptions this month and should have changed my nasal spray on the 13th. I stopped by our regular pharmacy to renew my prescriptions and he said they could be ready in half an hour. I was so tired I didn't want to wait that long but said I would pick them up tomorrow. What a difference from the pharmacies in Tucson. I think the service we have gotten here in Madison has been top notch and we have taken it for granted.
We have battened down the hatches for the night which involves closing all the curtains and putting a sun shield in the front window to help keep the heat in. We have a high speed connection via our Verizon Wireless Data card and are happily surfing the web.
