Grounded

We were on the road by 9:30 which is really good for us. The desert was not so interesting as the last time I drove this stretch. No flowers in bloom this time of year.
We fueled up at the Flying J in Eloy which is about 40 miles north of Tucson. Diesel was $2.21 a gallon for non commercial vehicles. This is about what we paid last spring when we left Arizona. We like to have the fuel tank full when we don't move the motorhome for a few months. This lessens the chance of water in the fuel from condensation.

We pulled into Desert Pueblo Mobile Home Park about 3 pm. Just I my son phoned to say he was on his way home from work early because it was snowing in Seattle. This was not a good time to chat. We pulled up to the office, I usually am the one who goes in and registers us. This was a busy time here because everyone who has a mobile home here was paying their rent. We had a nice welcome and people admired our motorhome. The maintenance staff have to help us park so reduce their liability if we hit the utility spots. We had reserved our space in April for this winter. It has a palm tree at the front of the lot and a few trees at the back of the space which provide afternoon shade. It is also easier to park our motorhome in because we could back straight in instead of coming in at an angle because of a saguaro cactus.

After we parked our neighbors began introducing themselves. Our neighbor to the rear had this space last year but wanted more sun. One fellow stopped to ask where in the great state of Wisconsin we were from. He was from Green Bay.

We got set up and then went out to eat and shop. We went to our nearby favorite Mexican eatery Karichimaka. I had Chili Rellanos as they do a great job. The name means stuffed chilies. Usually they are stuffed with cheese, but in Madison at Laredo's they stuff them with ground beef. I prefer the cheese. Then we went to Safeway for groceries and to Walgreens for Dick to drop off his prescription requests.

It feels really good to be here. It feels a bit like home after spending several months here last winter. Today I went to my favorite Trader Joe's for items I can only get there.
I picked up a few more things than were on my shopping list, such as Mango Salsa, butternut squash and lox. I picked up Dick's prescriptions and stopped at Fry's grocery store to get the other items the other two stores didn't have. My errands took me 3 hours because of location and time of day. It would have been better if I had gone earlier but we wanted to sleep in.

I wind up shopping at four different groceries stores here in Tucson because of food preferences. WalMart is the only place that carries the Chocolate Soy Milk Dick likes. Soy Slender uses Splenda as a sweetener instead of corn syrup. Safeway has the Corn and Crab Chowder, 17th St. Market has the produce and Trader Joe has cheese, and some other really good food items and the inexpensive wine.

For dinner I sauteed a chicken breast and then added some Mango Salsa to the pan and let it cook for a few minutes. I steamed the butternut squash and microwaved the green beans. The chicken turned out well and looked very pretty next to the orange squash and green beans.

This is the time I will get serious about reducing our portions. I cut the chicken breast in half so we each had about 4 ounces of meat and measured the vegetables for portion control. Wayfinder desperately needs to lose weigh and is a very poor candidate for gastric bypass surgery because of his age.

Plans for the next week involve going out to the Desert Museum, going to see the latest Harry Potter movie, and for Wayfinder some wood carving.
