Only minor irritations

Friday was a much more pleasant day. We got up reasonably early as we expected Mother to come over to the RV Park for a visit. We had gotten a taste for bagels, cream cheese and smoked salmon while visiting compactspeen. He added a variation by using French Chevre Cheese instead of cream cheese. I had picked up some Chevre for us when I went shopping before returning to the motorhome. I looked for bagels but all the bagels are giant size. I wanted bagels the size the original one were. Wayfinder counts carbohydrates to help manage his diabetes and the modern bagels had 44 grams each. So I bought more whole wheat English Muffins which have 26 grams each. I opened my last can of Winchester Bay Smoked Coho Salmon. We then had a tasty meal of muffin, Chevre and Smoked Salmon.

Mother visited a while and then said she had signed up for a art tour that afternoon. We told her to go as we had errands to do. We had to stock up on groceries and arrange to get my prescriptions from Walgreens. The shopping went well but when I ordered my prescriptions I was told one medication had no more refills. I was surprised because I had just got a new prescription when I visited the Dr. in Madison in October. I phoned Walgreens in Madison and they looked up the original script. Yep the Dr. or his assistant had not circled anything as to how many refills. So there I am out here in Oregon and the Dr. office is closed and I can't get my medication refill. It is very frustrating to try and take care of things so something like this doesn't happen but someone else's careless behavior can have a negative consequence for me.

The pharmacy faxes the clinic and the Dr. on call Saturday authorized one refill, so I will phone the Dr. office Monday and chew out someone for putting me in this position. I expect better from medical personnel. There mistakes can be harmful. In this case i do have enough on hand to last until the prescription is filled but in my opinion this should not have happened. Grump, Grump.

That evening we went out to dinner with Mom and my Sister-in-law to celebrate our birthdays. We went to McGrath's Fish House in Milwaukie, Oregon. This the type of seafood restaurant that posts the fish they have on hand on a green board and also gave today's fishing report. They had 6 kinds of live Oysters. The menu was extensive with various kinds of seafood and some steaks for non fish eaters. They had North Atlantic Lobster Tail for $18.99 so I indulged myself for my birthday. My SIL had razor clams and prawns for her birthday, Mother had Scallops and Wayfinder had Pesto Prawns over Tortelinni, most of the food was very good but Mother's Scallops were not right and overcooked. The service was mediocre and at times irritating. My lobster was delicious and the lemon butter was tasty on the broccoli. My nephew didn't join us as he is still pretty fragile and is highly anxious in group setting.

My SIL was going to take my nephew up to Mt. Hood to snowboard on Saturday but he cancelled Friday night as he didn't feel up to going. He is not able to do much let alone take care of himself. We are all concerned about him but at 18 he has to find his own way to manage his mental illness. He finally kept an appointment with his psychiatrist. I wish they had programs for people like the one I worked for before I retired. The club house model does an excellent job in helping people with persistent and severe mental illness thrive in the community.

Today we went to Hillsboro to visit my Aunt and cousin. They took us out to lunch at a local Chinese food buffet. They had a lot of vegetables, it would be a good place for a vegetarian to get a meal. The food was decent. I had stir fried bok choy, egg plant, cauliflower, and green beans plus Mongolian Chicken and all were quite tasty.
We had not seen my Aunt since my Dad's funeral 4 years ago. It was good to catch up with family news. We also visited my Uncle and Aunt who live at the same retirement center as Mother. Right now everyone is in reasonably good health for all their chronic conditions.

Our mail did not arrive today so we will have to stay over Monday night in hopes it arrive on Monday.

Tomorrow we will go to the Portland Art Museum to see the Hesse exhibit.
