Yesterday I went to Lubee to say goodbye to the bats. I took a bunch of pictures. I will start posting a few at a time.

This morning we found a yellow rat snake in the enclosure with the Cynopterus bracyotis. Pirate was missing. Pirate was eaten by a mother fucking snake!

He was such a sweet boy. We miss him very much.

Sunshine turned one today. We made him a "cake" and sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
(The cake was made from a piece of watermelon with grape and carrot candles, and peach baby food "icing".)

Sorry I gave up on the bat a day, or bat a week project last year. It was hard to keep up with, because working with animals is unpredictable. Tours and research projects further confounded my best efforts. I also quit carrying my cell phone as much, since it refuses to hold a charge for more than a day.
