That was a quick weekend.
Slow start to the week at work, but that's okay. (That's what I tell myself so I don't worry too much. :D)
I think the rope halter helped some for Zolar. He was not happy about it, but no jerking and yanking on the lead while he was tied. Will continue for now.
Did random things while riding. Worked on centerlines (trot)-he tends to get quick and really try to anticipate, as well as not always straight, so I need to make sure we're straight and forward. Keep stopping at random places, or not stopping at all. Also turning on and off center from both sides.
Worked on canter from halt both right and left lead. Harder to left.
From that did circles in canter, 10meters with a 15-20m counter canter. Did canter-trot canter across the diagonal.
Did extended trot across the diagonal from shoulder in and shortened trot. He does tend to get faster especially away from the barn.
Did half pass and leg yield at a walk.
I've figured out that I drop contact, and let him go when I shouldn't. This leads to us both losing momentum and 'up,' as well as him learning that he can get breaks (when he shouldn't be. although, honestly, we're both a little lazy). So I've really tried to keep my elbows tucked in, hands up, chest up, legs on, good contact, wiggling/tugging when I need to when we're working. And keeping him at a nice bright gait. So much work! lol
Lesson tomorrow.
Going to use the new black saddle pad so K can not complain about off white horse with white saddle pad. ;)Love the new SmartPak pads. Less than $20, and fit so well with the saddle-no random squishing of billet straps because the billet strap on the pad is right where it should be. Also in multiple colors. :D So far I only have white, black, and red.
Oh, taking the trailer in for service tomorrow-get some things fixed, and get it inspected for safety (and what else needs to be fixed). So driving it to work in the morning. lol Always makes me feel weird to park that at the clinic.
