As we approach the end of season one of Lost (a bittersweet time, do doubt...hah), I'm just curious to know when and how everyone picked up on the series. Did you like it initially? How devoted are you to this fandom? What kept/keeps you watching? Other thoughts

I have never missed an episode, even those I hated (like Special.) I got into discussing it on TWoP right away. I didn't start writing fanfic (as I've said before) until after "Confidence Man." I wrote a Skate ficlet and posted it lostfanfic.com. Then I wanted to start vidding and that led me to LJ. ;-)
And the rest is history. I was a diehard X-Files and Buffy/Angel fan, but I never discussed them online or wrote fanfic! Something about the hotness of the men on the show, the crazy, headscratching mysteries and everything just kicked up to that extra level of obsession for me.
Confusing Sawyer and Charlie?! Wow. They're only about a foot difference in height! And different accents. Heh.
It's funny, because Foxy was the big draw for me at first, and I can't quite pinpoint when Sawyer became it for me. I'd say a) reading the letter so damn angst-fully and b) killing the polar bear and then c) harrassing Kate. Mmmm. Good times, you crazy, angsty Southern bad boy. It took a while for Jack to get back in my lust-filled dreams good graces.
I was so mad at Jack and Sayid over the Sawyer torture and then the show just -- poof -- let it go. And then one day (when was that -- I think around WTCMB) it suddenly became all about Jack/Sawyer.
