The Black Dream

Throughout Atlas, the Black Dream has established itself as a guild promoting the fine arts. Sponsoring actors, musicians, and yes - circuses, this guild has ensured that the arts stay alive and well despite the hardships and troubles people have fallen in. Primarily, their biggest form of revenue are the traveling plays, but they're also known for impromptu performances and music recitals.

Children especially love the Black Dream for its circus performances. These have become more rare since the initial Negativity attacks, but their circuses still draw large crowds of people eager to see the special effects and magic right before their very eyes.

THE GUILD
* Established in Port Merrium eons ago; most people would wager it's been around for generations.
* It's your typical "fine arts union guild." Most actors join the guild and pay a 5% income fee to stay. In exchange, the guild acts as their caretaker and nurturer and helps them in times of need as well as times of profit.
* Members typically don't join Ad Libitum (or vice-versa). It's not unheard of for an off-worlder to join Ad Libitum, but considering that the Black Dream heavily relies on performers, melee fighters are better off looking elsewhere for employment.
* The leader, Kateri, acts as a caregiver and mother to all her subjects, but typically acts like a director. Unless a member's going off and killing people, she won't interfere with her guild members' personal lives.

CURRENT PERFORMANCES

Never Ever After:
* Description: A brilliant deconstruction of classic fairytales like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, this play slightly resembles the Earth play "Into the Woods" with its musical routines, showstopper numbers, and yes, twist ending involving their poor Narrator.
* Location: Port Merrium; Entertainment District
* Audience Reception: Warm. Everyone - for the most part - genuinely likes it, with the exception of poor kids who expected another Cinderella.

White Solstice:
* Description: A holiday play about a theater troupe who finds themselves stranded in Blessenwood after their carriages break down. They dream of a white Winter Solstice - because everyone wants snow! - but only receive it in the end after many trials and tribulations.
* Location: Port Merrium, Entertainment District (+ traveling troupe in Blessenwood during the holiday season. Irony, yes?)
* Audience Reception: ... It's a holiday classic. Unless you have no soul, you love it.

New Beginnings:
* Description: A play entailing the origins of the tree spirit Manitou and how he became part of Atlas culture, myth, and legend. Also features special appearances by the eight summon spirits and... yes, dare we say it, Blessenwood's first governor.
* Location: Traveling Stage Show (appears all over Atlas)
* Audience Reception: Not favored among Tyche's Alliance (Kadir Hawthorne, in particular, thinks it's a little ridiculous - if not highly amusing), but the rest of Atlas seems to enjoy it. The governor of Port Merrium's even made a movement to make it a part of Port Merrium's permanent collection. It's... pretty much mixed, to be honest, but the positive reviews outweigh the negative.

(There are also many impromptu bands and musicians floating around, so please feel free to say "hey, this random musician gave an informal concert!" It's not only very likely, it's more than likely to occur than not.)
