After a month or so of feeling not all that great, it was nice to experience genuinely happy-making things for a bit. And the last couple of days have been filled with such things (well, three such things, to be exact).
Cut for Oscars, skinny guitarists, and the inappropriate use of a ukelele... )

picspam, alex kapranos is sex on vocal chords, complete and utter win!, franz ferdinand, der humpink, christoph waltz can has a mf oscar, oscars

Sorry about the late reply, RL has been running me off my feet ATM. I don't know, maybe it's my blinding love for this movie colouring my judgement, but I think I prefer this screenplay to that of Pulp Fiction. Of course, Basterds is my favourite movie of his since Reservoir Dogs, so PF was never my favourite Tarantino film to begin with (although I do still love it). Also, after having seen The Hurt Locker, I can definitely say that Basterds had a better screenplay than the movie which did win it. And ooh, I'll check out your review straight away! :)

I do wish that the writers of Skins had decided to leave the psychotic part out of her depression, because that actual elements of depression covered (how time passed, the sudden onset, the scene where she was hiding under the bed) were done so well. Howeer, my quibbles with Freddie's episode are nothing in comparison to those I have with Effy's actual episode *shudders*. You do not want to get me started on that WTF ending. The only thing I liked about it were the mentions of Tony, and the rest? *shudders again*

I know this is like disgustingly late, but this has been on the top of my firefox bar for ages cause I kept meaning to reply and didnt get around to it .__. I have finals and stuff coming up so I've been like majorly scatter brained (that and my usual moodiness)

Now that I finally saw the rest of Skins 4 I can also properly reply to this. Effy's episode was so terrible that I could barely bring myself to finish, I cant believe this is the same show I watched that had Sid and Tony and REAL issues once upon a time.
The thing I hated the most was the finale, it had no emotional resonance for me what so ever, and of course it ended with Cook being "cool" and making a big speech about his friend (WHO IS DEAD) and I just, would a teen actually do that? Wouldnt an actual young person run screaming or freak out or flip out or REACT beyond a show of machismo in this situation? It was just SO STUPID! I officially wash my hands of this show. I cant believe I had to force myself even to watch the finale. I'm glad at least Thomas got SOME closure on his shoddy character arc, and that katie got some character development (her episode was the only thing I liked about this whole season, well JJ's was ok but largely pointless in the grand scheme of the series) but otherwise? rubbish and a waste of my time. I am like amused at the fangirls who are having conniptions over an MTV american adaptation of the series because they would have to try really hard to be as horrible as the original is right now, let alone worse!
Anyway, have you seen the new Doctor Who and A2A btw? They were A++ IMO.

I know exactly what you mean. Between work, uni, starting therapy and my new internet obsession (Tumblr), I have really been neglecting LJ as a whole lately.

Effy's episode was probably the biggest disappointment I have ever experienced in regards to this show. It was completely ridiculous, and that ending was just... *shudders*

However, I don't completely hate the final episode. I think that, with the mess that was made of the storylines this series, it did the best job it could to resolve them (well, aside from some unfortunate slides into toilet humour). If the series as a whole had been better handled, the final episode would probably have been a lot better. Plus, I liked some of the friendship moments (eg Effy, Katie and Panda in the hospital room), because that has been something distinctly lacking in this generation, in comparison to the first gen. I still really hate the fact that the cast montage made it seem like this series was all about Cook, though.

As for the future of Skins, I'm done as far as the TV show goes. I think I'll still see the movie, just because Jack Thorne is writing it, and he was my favourite writer on this show. Plus, it will involve Gen 1, who I still love a little too much for my own good.

Now, on to much better television. I have seen both A2A and DW, and I adored them both. In regards to Who, I just loved Eleven and Amy together, plus it's a breath of freash air after all of the Ten angst. As for A2A, I think I'm going to find it difficult not to love every episode in this series, just because it's going to be the last time I see these characters together, as well as the last time I will get to geek out over Sam Tyler mentions. ;)

Man I'm going to be starting therapy soon too actually, It's something I've been considering for a while but putting off since my experiances as a kid with psychiatrists and stuff was not very productive (not bad, just they didnt help any but then I was seeing them for different reasons..) I hope it goes well for you though. :) My friend says it really works and she's the one who convinced me to give it a go again, since I've been having a really hard time lately.

Oh I remember that scene with the girls! I was mad about everything else that it slipped my mind, that was a really lovely scene and but I think it left more sad than happy because it reminded of what this season COULD have been, and how the focus on effy, freddy and cook, esp cook pretty much took away from all the other more interesting interactions and characters. I loved the effyxkatie interaction in her episode ten times more than any interactions effy had with the guys.

shit the Movie will have Gen 1 characters? and a good writer? goddammit, I'm prob gonna watch it now -_- WHEN WILL THIS CARNIVAL RIDE FROM HELL END? *weeps*

A2A has been BLOWING my mind this season so far. I enjoyed S2 but this year they have really outdone themselves. I just find myself soaking up every single minute, and so many theories coming out now are so interesting! I think I will actually cry when this series ends, like straight up bawl my eyes out. Man yesterday's ep was ALL about Shaz and I loved it, I love Shaz to pieces. I was so worried for her the whole time ;_; and gojaoiw gah I dun wanna make this comment too long so I'll stop here. (NEW DW TODAY EEEE *runs in circles like a kid*)
