After a month or so of feeling not all that great, it was nice to experience genuinely happy-making things for a bit. And the last couple of days have been filled with such things (well, three such things, to be exact).

Ahhh the oscars were lovely, and I'm not actually sad basterds lost best screenplay, mostly cause I saw it coming a mile away. In fact pretty much every single win was typical of the Academy's style, with the exception of Bigelow and Monique's wins which I worried may not happen but then they did so, yay

Yeah, as soon as Hurt Locker won the best screenplay at the BAFTA's, I knew that Basterds' chances of snagging it at the Oscars were slim to nil. It's a shame though, because it is a fabulous screenplay. And hooray for getting your hands on a copy of Basterds! I hope you enjoy it. :D

It was definitely a good screenplay but I feel like it wasnt tarantino's best (certainly his most ambitious film project and screenplay since Kill Bill, perhaps more so) but his best IMHO was Pulp Fiction, which he DID win an oscar for, so until he tops that script or at least equals it, I feel like I cant say he deserved the win. Especially with so many other strong scripts in contention this year

Sorry about the late reply, RL has been running me off my feet ATM. I don't know, maybe it's my blinding love for this movie colouring my judgement, but I think I prefer this screenplay to that of Pulp Fiction. Of course, Basterds is my favourite movie of his since Reservoir Dogs, so PF was never my favourite Tarantino film to begin with (although I do still love it). Also, after having seen The Hurt Locker, I can definitely say that Basterds had a better screenplay than the movie which did win it. And ooh, I'll check out your review straight away

The Oscars really are so much fun! Even more awesome when awesome people attend, look pretty and you know, win awards!

Great to see you happy! You are always great with the picspam. The Oscars was fun to watch and I was pleased that Avatar did not win! Cameron will just have to slink away and roll around in all his money for solace. ;)

Thanks, hon. *smishes* Sorry about the late reply, RL has been hectic now that Uni has started up again. As for the Oscars, Avatar not winning any of the major awards was definitely the highlight of the whole thing. And the fact that Cameron lost Best Director to his ex-wife just makes it even more awesome ;)

That ukelele bit is weirdly hypnotic. I just find myself entranced by it spinning round and round.

Meant to answer this ages (okay a week) ago! I'm doing good actually. Still have some dark moments of lonely when it feels like the walls are closing in on me but for the most part, life is on the upswing. I've signed up for a 6 month writing course to try and get reanimate the muse. It may be truly dead but I haven't given up hope yet!!
