Little thoughts that occupy my mind.

I worry about some of my piano students. I was going to send three to exams in January (two practical, one theory) but

* one student is clearly not ready and cracking under the pressure of me pushing her
* one student had a concussion and couldn't practice for almost a month, setting back her chances
* one student started his rudiments class too late and isn't keeping up

I've worked out, well, workarounds, but I'm a little disappointed no one's doing winter examinations.

Speaking of work, halfway through the session! I like money and working and teaching, but I always look forward to the end of the session as a nice break.

And speaking of teaching, there are always those fun moments I can have as a private teacher that just don't fly in a public school:

"Did I do this right?"

"Did I hit you?"

It's the end of the month, when all my private students pay up, which gives me an excess of fine cash to work with, namely shopping around for a new winter coat. My current one is getting lint balls as has a tear in the lining. I'd like with a hood, and maybe LARP-friendly. Hopefully Peter will have the energy to shop next weekend. I really like this one:

but it has no hood, which is a big deal for me - I like throwing over the hood rather than digging out a hat.

Also started planning Christmas gifts, because I hate last-minute shopping.

This weekend's a LARP event, but I'm not attending, as it's All Hallows and I'm already fighting off a cold. All Hallows is a horror thing by far, and you spend 48 hours hiding in the woods. My body just can't take it.

Saw the trailer for Frozen, and I'm actually a little excited. Fairy tale remakes seem to be the latest trend, and The Snow Queen was a favourite (mostly because I'm a winter baby). It seems to promise that it'll be an epic tale like past classics, like The Lion King, so I'm hopeful!

I'm also excited for Catching Fire, but I'm disappointed at the spoilers additional trailers dropped. This one teases at the plot for non-readers, but drops enough hints to make familiar faces light up. I know why they made the other trailers that basically spelled out the whole plot...I just don't like it.
