movies
i saw three movies this weekend. one: "the city of lost children", which i HIGHLY recommend. very creative/odd french movie from the creators of "amelie" and "delicatessen". i had to watch it twice to fully understand it. two: "the simpsons: the movie". not great, but i think the secret is to go in not expecting much, then you won't be too disappointed. three: "hairspray". better than i expected! the only downfall was john travolta. i tried to give him a chance, but no, i still believe they should have chosen an actual drag queen, or at least someone who was not so well-known. was harvey fierstein too busy or something? everyone else was well cast. also the friday before last, i saw "the host", a south korean monster movie, and i just have to mention that because i really liked it.
