Or they sit out in the hall waiting for the transformation to be over so they can help him heal afterwards because they are too young to transform or never think of becoming animagi. I think it was Lie Low at Lupin's era. Sirius was trying to restart their relationship, but Remus wasn't ready. On the full moon, Padfoot, for lack of a better word, propositioned Moony, and in spite of the Wolfsbane the wolf took over and responded
