I did a software update yesterday that required a system reboot at the end. Because I was in the middle of something I told the laptop I'd do it later. I don't shut off the laptop at night but only send it to sleep so there was no reboot this morning either when I started up the computer again. My ISP told me yesterday that a) I would get a call today informing me that everything is resolved and I can pick up my new router, or b) it would take another three weeks to clear up the mess. My father managed to get his computer infected with that fake Bundespolizei virus going around that locks down your computer and demands you send it money. That thing is a nasty, resilient bugger. I spent half the day getting the computer working again. There's not enough chocolate in the world for this shit.

So, my laptop screen pretty much died yesterday. It's probably the inverter which regulates the screen light. It's working again right but I have no idea for how long. Basically the backlight for the screen is broken ( Read more... )
