News today that budgetary cutbacks in Suffolk County, New York have resulted in the laying-off of Santa Claus, or at least his ersatz doppleganger, the 83-year-old WWII veteran and former detective David McKell. All of this for a whopping savings of $660 a year against the $135 million hole in the county's budget.

Way to think outside the box,

Terry Lester Allen, who's obviously a fine, upstanding example of our species, has been charged with felony counts of creating an explosive device and making terrorist threats. So what did he do? A while back, I posted a link to some Mega-blocks Halo Wars building kits that are available this year. Well, I actually got two of them for Christmas, and tonight I tried to put one together. Over in England, there's a guy who's eaten "Christmas lunch" every day for 16 years. However, with the "credit crunch", he's cut back a bit, and he's now lost 20kg in the last year.
