"Did it hurt?"

A black silhouette was spotted lying in the midst of a lush green field. The moon, casting a ghastly shine over his pale smooth face. Tendrils of darkness seemed to emit out from the tenebrous sky, enveloping him with gloom. A withdrawn person by nature, studying constellations kept him occupied. His favourite was the Pegasus. Magical and flying things interests the introverted him. As he lives in his own world, nothing ordinary existed. From fairies to angels, unicorns to pegasus. Perhaps his dark mind had light in it.

"Pegasus... Monoceros..." Sungmin muttered as he traced his finger across the sky, joining the various luminous points that lined up the sky. A flaming object plummeted from the sky.  "Wait. What is that?" He thought. "No... A shooting star? It can't possibly be as bright as this..." Thoughts ran through his clouded mind, only to confirm his suspicion when the blazing object came into contact with the ground, spewing out more sparkly substance. "What kind of phenomenon is this?" He questioned as he hesitantly got up and ran in the direction of the fallen object. As an introvert with not much social life he is, he resorted to hiding behind a nearby tree to observe the now 'standing' object. "Standing? It... It looks almost... Hu-human?" Sungmin squinted at the incandescent figure, glowing ever so brightly it burned his eyes.

A grunt escaped through Sungmin's lips, immediately alerting the figure his presence, igniting an instant flash of fear in the figure's eyes, as caught by Sungmin when it turned to look. The brilliant light slowly died down, first revealing a soft mop of brown hair, followed by more and more skin, an eggshell colour. The figure was crouched, head tucked in between his knees as his back rose and fell erratically. Sungmin stared wide-eyes at the figure in his birthday suit, unsure of what to do. A soft sniff slipped into his ears, almost immediately guiding his legs to stride over to where the figure was at. He didn't like to see or hear people crying, it was torturous for him.

"Ar-are you o-okay?" Sungmin tripped over his words, hand lingering a few centimetres away from the form. There was no answer, only louder sobs were heard. His heart shattered into a million pieces, feeling for the mysterious creature. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Sungmin lunged forward, not caring whether any contact with the unknown being would being harm to him. "I'm so so sorry." Sungmin said as he pulled the whimpering creature into a tight embrace, not bothering that it was undressed. He did all he could, whispering calming words into the creature's ears, in the attempt to soothe him while caressing his back. "Let it all out..." He breathed, stroking the other's soft hair as it bawled loudly into Sungmin's shoulder, clutching on to his shirt for dear life. Despite the obvious lack of social ability, he had managed to calm the latter down, finally realising that he was downright naked in front of him. With a gasp, Sungmin took his hand and dragged him across the empty streets, into his apartment.

Now dressed in tight fitting clothes and sitting on the sofa, the man seemed more human-like. He stood to be a head taller than Sungmin, hence wearing clothes that did not really fit him. They sat down at the dining table, seated directly opposite each other. Sungmin brought his palms up to support his chin as he observed the other, looking at him from head to toe. Under Sungmin's examination, Kyuhyunfelt shy. He curled his toes up, stared a t the floor oh-so-interestingly and rubbed his palms together.

"So... Who are you?" Sungmin finally enquired, completely sure that the person in front of him was not human, yet he had such humanistic features.

"You meant what?" A gradual smile crept across his face. "You most probably already know it. I'm definitely not human... But I'm also not what I used to be already..." A shadow flitted across his face, returning to the solemn mood. "You have to keep me a secret ok? I will try to return back to my world as soon as possible, not to trouble you." A frown displayed across his face.

"Oh no! You can stay as long as you like... I'm kinda alone here... You are my only company..." Sungmin's voice gradually became softer and softer, head low in embarrassment. "I-I am Sungmin."

"Kyuhyun. M-min? Ca-can I call you that?" Kyuhyun looked up at at the latter, catching a surprised expression from him.

"I will call you Kyu then!" A bright smile filled with confidence came as a reply.

It turns out that Kyuhyun was a Fallen Angel, sent down to Earth, or the Mortal race as they called it, punished by God by his unruly behaviour up in the Heavens. He met with an unexpected accident on his way down, cutting off the only mean of identification- His wings. A bright sapphire blue colour, as it used to be, glorious and magnificent. When Sungmin arrived at the scene, he was trying to regenerate them back, a difficult and tricky task which required a lot of concentration. He would have been outraged that a mere human disrupt his recovery, if it was not the beautifully perfect face that mesmerised him, reducing him into a crying bundle over his loss.

For an angel, something Sungmin had read in books for quite some time now, Kyuhyun was just a snarky brat. Nothing special, very human-like instead. He had soulful dark eyes, drawing Sungmin's own brown ones every time they met. A pointed nose accompanied by a chiseled jaw. He was doubtlessly suave. Angels didn't need to eat, thus he couldn't cook either. It was the sight of Sungmin cooking that made his heart flutter. Through awkward conversations, Kyuhyun learnt more about Sungmin's life. It was surprising though, how an introvert grew to trust a magical creature in a matter of hours.

"Well... So, where do I sleep?" Kyuhyun asked. There was obviously only one bed, and they couldn't sleep together, they were strangers! Sungmin pondered for awhile, before pointing towards the bedroom. "What about you? The couch?" All the latter did was just nod, pushing Kyuhyun into the bedroom before settling down onto the couch itself. From the door, Kyuhyun could see the other patting the couch, trying to soften it out before laying down to sleep. "No blankets too. It's cold out there." Kyuhyun mumbled to himself, guilt creeping up from the corner of his heart. Unsure of what to do, he turned on his heels and approached the pink bed. With guilt still in his heart, he couldn't doze off, but tossed and turned every minute, thinking of what to do. "Aish! Forget it!" Kyuhyun jumped out of bed, stomped out and picked the sleeping figure bridal style carefully, so not to wake him up. He placed him on the bed, tucked him in and slipped under the covers too, back facing the latter.

As the sun shone into the bedroom, Kyuhyun cracked his eyes wearily, only to find his body entwined with Sungmin's. His instinct to scramble out of bed didn't kick in, but found himself staring deep into the other's face, admiring the charming appearance that fascinated him.  His eyes wandered down from the smooth forehead, to the closed foxy eyes, cute perked up nose, and lastly lingered on the m-shaped lips. He closed in the distance between their faces, however noticed that the latter stirred. Squeezing his eyes shut, he pretended to be back asleep, preparing to be kicked out of bed by the other in shock. Yet nothing happened in the next few minutes and so he cracked his eyes back open, only to find Sungmin staring at him with a gentle smile playing on his lips.

"I know you are awake. I woke up earlier than you to be exact." A soft murmur came from those lips, and the owner of them snuggled closer into his body. "I know I'm not supposed to do this, but you really are comfortable." A grin formed on Kyuhyun's lips as he reached down and place a kiss on Sungmin's head. "And you are not supposed to do that too." The latter breathed into his clothes, earning a chuckle from the both of them, as they cuddled closer . In the comfort of each other's embrace, they returned into their slumber.

This time, Kyuhyun woke up to an empty bed, he sat up, eyes immediately searching for the other. "Don't worry, I'm right here. I am a human, I get hungry you know. I slept through breakfast thanks to you, now I'm hungry." Sungmin entered the bedroom, carrying a plate full of pancakes. "Now scoot over, I want to eat." Sungmin chuckled, seeing the questionable face on the other.

"But... Don't you have a dining table outside? And there is a television there too." Kyuhyun asked, puzzled. Still not quite sure of the other's intention.

"Oh... Now you don't like me here do you? Then I will go out." Sungmin pouted, sighing Ashe got out of bed. It took Kyuhyun a full minute to process the situation, a disgrace to his genius brain.

"Wha-? No!" Kyuhyun shouted, scrambling out of bed and back-hugging the other. "I like you here, really!" Sungmin shook his head mutely and continued his quest to get out, despite the strong arms holding him back. "B-but Min!" Kyuhyun whined, successfully attracting the said man's attention. All he did was to tip-toe up and kiss the other's forehead, turning back onto his route.

"Now, now. I didn't say you couldn't hug me on the couch~ and I didn't know angels could look so cute while whining."

Days like that turned into weeks, and months into years. Sungmin had changed, and Kyuhyun was part of it. He made new friends, learnt more about constellations, and tamed the snarky brat. They were up on the roof on day, looking at the constellations again.

"Will you return back up there?"

"I might have to, although I definitely do not want to."

"Did it hurt?"

"What hurt?"

"When you fell, lost your wings, lost the place where you belonged."

"Yes, yes it did. It hurt when I fell, but you picked me up and gave me comfort. It hurt when I lost those instruments of flight, but you replaced it, bring me up to a higher level where I couldn't reach, even with it. And yes, it hurt when I was banished from my world, but here is where I belonged now, beside you, forever. It was worth it, all those pain, for I met you. The true bringer of my happiness."

Enveloping the other in a tight embrace, Kyuhyun whispered. " That reminds me. I wasn't only banished down here for my behaviour, but God gave me a task. To bring back someone worthy of the Gods' praise, someone whom I loved. It didn't have to be the first person I met, yet you surprised me. Are you ready now?"

"But why me?"

"Because you are special. Not only to me, but to the world. You managed to 'tame' me, not something even my father could do. I am Kyuhyun, son of the ultimate being. Shisus sent me down to find someone I trusted, someone who could assist me in my next task. And well, that's you. You will come back with me, won't you?" Kyuhyun explained, looking at Sungmin hopefully, only to hear muffled sobs. "You... You don't want to come with me?"

"I'm not declining you stupid! I love so just so much, I would have died if you went back by yourself! Pabo pabo pabo!" Sungmin hit Kyuhyun's chest, tears spewing out of his eyes.

"Lee Sungmin. For you to return to Heaven with me, you must have wings. And to obtain that, you will have to die first. To leave the burden back in your mortal body, released of all sorrow and frustration. To be a pure being. It will hurt. A lot." Kyuhyun further explained.

"I want pink ones." That's all he got as a reply. A smile formed on his lips, he understood that, for once. Taking the other by the hand, Sungmin lead him down they stairwell, back to the apartment. Sungmin plopped on the bed, patting the other side, inviting the angel on. They were wrapped in a tight embrace again, and Sungmin closed his eyes peacefully, awaiting the torture. A breeze whipped through his hair and he heard Kyuhyun mutter.

"Open your eyes." And Sungmin did as he told.

He was flying! Soaring through the starry sky, in the arms of his lover. "I thought you said it would hurt? And your wings are back! It's beautiful..."

"It was a test. To see if you were really willing to endure it for me. Well, obviously you passed." This earned another beating to his naked chest.

"Wait." Sungmin realised. "I'm naked too?!" He nearly screamed.

"Well you got pink wings..." Kyuhyun scoffed. Sungmin shrieked as loud as he could, yelling expletives into Kyuhyun face, struggling fiercely to get out of his tight grip, trying all means to wipe that signature smirk of his face.

"I THOUGHT YOU WERE ROMANTIC! OR AT LEAST CARING YOU DUMB ASS!!!"
