He was all alone, dried stains of the tears that once flowed down his cheek. Sungmin had locked himself in his room all day, weeping and mumbling incoherent words to himself. Until the time where he was so exhausted he enters the realm of his greatest sorrow: the happy memories he once had with another, Lee Hyuk Jae. He would always wake up to a drenched pillow, nose blocked and eyes puffy. And at once the dreams of last night comes flooding into his mind, causing him to erupt into another symphony of wails and sobs. Time pass so fast that he hadn't noticed that months had already gone. All he was waiting for was a sign of acceptance.
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
He knew that he wasn't perfect enough for the other, yet he went on in his pursuit of him. He had managed to get him, fell deep into his love, unable to return. As he left him in he darkness in the end, for the right perfect being, he broke. From his heart out to his body, pieces fell and accumulated under his feet. He wasn't good enough, not smart enough, not beautiful enough, not caring enough, not talented enough. An ending list left him full of regret, and in the end, he merely collapsed into a million pieces. He knew he couldn't be fixed.
I need some distraction oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
In the months of forgetting, Sungmin had already did his best to erase all traces of Hyuk Jae's existence to him, distracting himself by taking on a full time job, trying his best not to return home, back to the memories. He worked in a café he found, choosing it simply because it was so far from his house he would need a very long time to travel. All to get as little sleep as possible. This routine was energy draining, but it served well as a distraction, reducing his sleepless nights as exhaustion totally blocked out his dreams.
They may be empty and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
Three months into this routine, he had nearly entirely forgotten Hyuk Jae, the grasps of love slipping from him. He would taste freedom soon, he thought. Yearning for peace, he worked harder. A optimistic grin formed on his smiles as a masks everyday as he is with company. For the time Sungmin had worked in the café, his colleagues, Ryeowook, Hangeng, Heechul, along with their boss, Leeteuk, they knew him as a cheery person, the mask he had put up all along.
One day, a new worker was introduced to the team. Cho Kyuhyun, that was him. the person that struck right into the hidden corner of Sungmin's heart the first time their eyes met. He knew. He felt it. An unknown feeling was creeping into hearts, triggering immediate fear deep within. With a gasp, Sungmin's eyes widened and he took to his heels. He escaped through the back door in the kitchen.
No, it wasn't Kyuhyun. It was Hyuk Jae, entering with his current boyfriend, Lee Donghae. Sungmin sprinted to the park, tears flowing down his cheeks as he ran. He hoped the other hadn't seen him, since the latter was so engrossed in his conversation with the other. Sitting under a huge oak tree, Sungmin brought his knees up to his chest, hugging it as his tears flowed freely.
In the arms of an Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
"Hey... S-Sungmin hyung... A-Are you o-ok?" Kyuhyun didn't know why he had chased the other when he ran. He saw fear igniting in the eyes of his hyung when the customer entered, hands entwined with other guy. He but knew what this meant. He wasn't new to this, but he hardly knew the other.
The squatted to face level with the other, stuttering. For the first time in his life, he had never felt so nervous, anxious. When Sungmin didn't answer, he had thought the petite guy had fallen asleep, and he decided on leaving. As he stood and turned, he was halted by a pair of strong arms wrapping around his waist and a soft mumble.
"Don't go."
A slight smile crept up onto Kyuhyun's face, hands finding his way up to the other's. As he slowly tried to pry the other's hands off him, he was stopped by the wrap getting tighter, feeling the other pressed tightly against his back.
"I won't leave you, don't worry." Kyuhyun whispered, trying again to get the man's hands off. This time, the other let Kyuhyun gently unwound his arms off. Kyuhyun held the hands and pulled the latter into his embrace, mumbling "This way I can hold you better if you plan to collapse." A hint of humour evident.
"I just might." Sungmin answered, lips curved up a little as he pretended to fall, only to feel Kyuhyun's arms grip him harder, preventing him to do so. "Will you bring me home?" Sungmin uttered. A nod was given as a reply before the embrace was broken.
"Lemme hold your hand? Just in case you fall of course." Kyuhyun didn't know where the courage suddenly came from, now a bit embarrassed at what he said. A hand sneaked into his palm, how it seemed to fit in his big hands.
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
Sungmin's bedroom, the place that once held so much sorrow, with memories lined up one by one from the ceiling. The moment Kyuhyun entered, it seemed as if he was overriding every memory with one second of his time with Sungmin. It was not long after when brightness enveloped the room, just with memories of Kyuhyun looking around his stuff, from burying his head in cupboard looking at clothes to examining his stuff toys.
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here.
"Kyu, I'm tired..." Sungmin rubbed his eyes, looking wearily at the other, then lying down to sleep. Kyuhyun stared in awe at the beautiful creature in front of him, though unable to see his brown eyes. A frown formed on his beautiful face, nose scrunching as sweat begun to form. "D-Don't leave me please..." A soft whimper came from Sungmin, a little shocking Kyuhyun.
Sungmin squirmed incessantly in his sleep, obviously unable to have a good nights sleep. Kyuhyun sighed and climbed into the other's bed. "He is a stranger... What am I doing... Well I already hugged him... Gahs... Who cares!" Kyuhyun mumbled to himself, convincing himself that what he did was completely acceptable, then proceeding to wrap his arms around Sungmin's waist. He sang a soft lullaby when Sungmin relaxed into his arms and cuddled into his warmth even more. Sungmin had finally found comfort, although in an arms of a stranger, he knew that it had to be his soulmate; his guardian angel.
