Summertime project time!
Ok, so the goal was to make
Knitty's Bob and Weavebut not in the fine silk and ribbons, but instead a black boucle with a bright mohair-y thread (I am NOT seeking out expensive yarn until I know I can actually complete this bad boy)
but in casting on I realized I a) did not understand the pattern and b) could not purl. In my process of googling, thinking, casting-on, and re-casting-on I figured out the pattern of yarn-overs and such (see, I can't just execute it by following the pattern, it has to make sense in my head for me to get past the first row... it's a weird visual learning thing I think) and how they would turn out, but I still haven't gotten past purling (probably because I tried to teach myself in 4 minutes off of youtube while running out the door).
So, moral of the story, I am using this great red nubbly yarn to make a scarf using knits and purls (stockinette, am i right?) as a practice run, then on to bigger and nubblier shawls for mom for mommy's day! I really want to make her a shrug like
Knitty's Bobbilicious but I doubt I will have the time and skills, so I'm going to try the wrap first as a gift for her, that may likely be a gift for someone else.
and, I have these matte silver beads that remind me of 1970s lampshades (big and cylindrical, can you picture it?) and I'm going to have a bunch from chains to make a sort of wind-chime looking pair of earrings. Excitement. I'll work on figuring out how to post pictures of my projects if anyone cares :)
