Lexicon

Last day of June. Also my brothers birthday (I already called him). The trip back home from out west was exhausting but I'm glad I went. Had a great time. Arizona is brutally hot, made more so by the lack of shade (no tall trees), but the real bothersome thing was that the constant danger of sunburn. The sun was aggressively piercing. The heat was tolerable if there was a breeze, but sunscreen was an absolute must.

My friend Nathan recommended a sci-fi book for me called Lexicon by an Australian author named Max Barry, and according to my Kindle I am 82% through with it. I've enjoyed it immensely (It's about the power of language), although apparently his previous works are better. May check those out later, but in the meantime I've already downloaded a book on the circumstances surrounding the start of World War I, called The Sleepwalkers. I've been doing that; reading one work of fiction, then one of nonfiction. Appeals to my easily distracted sensibilities, I suppose.

Plan to spend the month of July engaged in productive home repair projects. Got a bunch to do and little time to get it all done. I'll moan more about that later, I'm sure.
