Finally back at UMBC. The transition was rather smooth. It really makes a huge difference being able to move in before everyone else. Makes the whole process much quicker and more manageable.

Right as I set up my computer on Wednesday night and logged into Resnet, I was infected with the MS worm. Sucks. Finally got that taken care of, but then Resnet crashed for 2 days on me. And now I'm finally back online.

I got here early because I'm working at the information desk in the commons and I have to train. Job orientation was ok. Twelve hours of training, two days in a row. Not fun, but alot of it was bullshit like taking a tour of the campus (even though I'm a 4th year student), taking a personality examination to learn what kind of worker I am, and learning meaningless facts about UMBC that have absolutely no relevance to my job. But the upside to it is that I got paid. So it's all good.

I am finally completely settled into my room. The dining hall is open and the same as it ever was, that can be taken as a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you are. More construction, now that the ITE and Public Policy buildings are finally done they decided to tear up the entire area outside of Patapsco and Potomac by the dining hall. It is a mess. That nice little field that used to be outside Patapsco has been transformed into a pile of dirt. What the hell they are doing there, I don't know.

They put a convienience store in where the Pub used to be. Finally, they make some use of that space. That is, or was, the most wasted space on campus. I still don't understand why they took the food court out of there just because the commons opened. But the new store, called "Food for Thought" (I know, right) is pretty nice. And there are tables set up inside so it will probably be very popular and heavily used on class days.

I can't wait till Monday when everyone else moves in. The freshmen moved in today. Good times.
