Yay! I think we have finally found the right time and place for our wedding!
Since deciding to move our wedding date up from summer of 2007 to summer of 2006, Brad and I have sort of been wavering between eloping and having more of a traditional wedding. Well, when my sisters were down for the weekend, they sort of talked some sense into us.
A lot of the reason Brad was feeling more comfortable with an elopement was because certain members of his family make him nuts. He was also worried about his parents having to be around each other, since they do not get along. We've now come to the conclusion that we do not have to feel guilty about not inviting the aunt that stole Brad's first car when he was 15. And, it is not our problem if Brad's parents can't be grown ups for one day.
I, on the other hand, was stressing about the formality that weddings involve. However, we have now decided that, while still including all of our loved ones, we can have a gathering that is less formal and still memorable. I just can not handle all the anxiety of wedding etiquette and standards and so on.
We are having our wedding at a camp. That, right there, will take things down a notch. We have booked
Camp Cody in Freedom, NH for May 21, 2006. We will have some of our close family and friends spend the night with us there, on May 20th, so that we can do some kayaking and prepare for the big event.
The reasons we think this place is right are plenty. Brad really wanted to get hitched near the mountains, and this place is surrounded by them. I really wanted to have an outdoor ceremony, and this place has stunning views. I've also been to this camp a few times, while in AmeriCorps, and I know that it is a nice facility. Plus, the food is great and the price is very reasonable. Yay!
I think we are going to buy our wedding bands tomorrow... it will be a great way to spend our Valentine's Day! I have no idea what I want, although I know I need yellow gold (because that is what my engagement ring is). Brad wants something very unique looking for himself. Man, I'm getting so excited!!
We are also picking up the key to our new apartment, tomorrow. We won't be moving in until the weekend, though. Our best friend, Amber, is coming up from Boston to lend us a hand. I can't wait to see her!
