Wipe School and the Incredible Porting Boss

Aug 01, 2006 09:15

Yesterday was my day off, and I vowed to pvp all day.
I went back on that the second I logged in and started trying to farm bone fragments and AD rep.

Aeyris goes to Toys 'R' Us... sorta
Niloc followed me, then brought Imback, and I already had Ardor in my group. The three of us were doing quests and grinding AD rep in the Noxious Glade while Ardor played his shaman. After we finished a quest, we went to help Ardor kill Araj the Summoner so he could make his Scholo key.

And on a whim, we ran Scholomance. I got Charisma online and the five of us ran it. Overall, I found it to be nowhere near as difficult as I expected, but it's probably for the better considering we wiped like 3 times just in the first hallway and the library-looking room.
Stupid knockback ghost guys.

Things got better though, with only the occassional death as the dungeon progressed - never more than one person dying, and we actually managed to complete the entire thing.

Also, it was like, caster day or something. There were 2 mail drops, 4 cloth drops, and Alexi (?) Barov dropped a freakin' shaman relic. That sucked. I think there was also one plate drop.
Overall though, I came out on top. Now I have decent boots to put my mithril spurs on so if I get dismounted, it has comparable stats to my main boots, I got a pair of +frost damage gloves that they made me take but they were no good for me, and then the kicker - [Don Mauricio's Band of Rumination] and [Dreadmist Mask].
It was both hilarious and sad that these should drop. The ring was funny because I only found out about that ring last week while reading a "legendary" thread on the general forums about [Don Julio's Ring] which had everyone asking "It has new stats?"
Many were saying taht the epic ring, a reward from being exalted with AV, is mediocre compared to the rare that dropped for me yesterday. I've got 4 rings now. :)
The fact that the Dreadmist mask dropped was both funny and sad. Sad because even though I wanted it for it's cool look, I would've much rather Deadknife gotten it first - but funny because he's been buying all the boe Devout pieces simply because they are cheaper.
Char also made me a [Mooncloth Robe] last night. It's funny that I had wanted that so bad until I got my Legionnaire's Robe. They each have their uses though. I'm starting to assemble an actual semi-respectable healing/spirit set in addition to my standard/pvp gear which is int and stam heavy.

WTF HOW DID I GET HERE???
We did complete Scholomance. Which means we fought Darkmaster Gandling. I'd heard the name before, but didn't really know anything about him and since Imback accidentally aggrod him before anybody was ready, we had no opportunity to ask.

Turns out this crazy guy TELEPORTS PEOPLE OUT OF THE FIGHT! How freakin awesome is that! He ports you to a nearby room with 3 60 undead mobs, and you are locked inside. Turns out the mobs are incredibly weak - even I could've melee'd them to death.

The fight was hilarious though because nobody knew this would happen except for Imback and he didn't tell us.

First, Niloc disappears, and in party chat he says "WTF???". Then Charisma disappears and I see her on her screen in another room. We're both shocked and I say "What the hell??"
Suddenly, Ardor is ported away, leaving only me and Imback with Gandling, and I'm oom. My mana regen'd enough for one flash heal that failed to land because Imback was already dead.

I semi-panic. I try to kite the boss around to see what I can do because I'm now ALONE with the freakin boss. But he didn't 2-shot me like I expected. I only had about 50% health and was surviving, managed to heal myself once when I got down to about 15%, and suddenly(!) the warriors come to my rescue! With aggro off me I proceed to bandage myself and we go back to standard tanking. Of course Ardor now says "not enough dps" as Gandling still has well over 70% health. I cast SW:Pain, but after that, no more damage from me. I stuck to healing. Char innervated me, and while things were getting dangerously tense towards the end, we got him.
Imback was calling out percentages as we got close... it was just so awesome.
And everybody got ported at least once. It was so awesome.
When I got ported they yelled at me, "Don't just stand there!!! The mobs are weak!!"

Most interesting encounter I've had thus far.
I'm glad my play has been so casual over these past couple years that I still have so much yet to learn and experience. :D
