Did you miss this last week? Didjya? Huh? Huh? :: chuckle ::
This week's songs are both upbeat rock songs from their respective countries -- slightly different in style, but damned catchy rock songs regardless...
Athena - Hatasız Kul Olmaz / Nobody Without Fault 3:05, ~4:46MB - This song, which shares its name with a film made in 1977 (I had to do research ^^;;;) is sung by Athena, who represented Turkey in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest and surprising a helluva lot of people in doing so -- who would have expected TURKEY to produce a well-done SKA song?? Indeed, the band has ska flavourings, and my brother has compared their sound to the likes of Bad Religion in some of their songs on their self-titled CD -- "not that that's a bad thing...," he insists. You can make your own band comparison here, but I like this song quite a bit, whatever similarities it has to other Western offerings.Silbermond - Immer am Limit / Always at the Limit 4:04, ~5:86MB - Silbermond is one of the nice surprises that've come across German radio lately, as they're one of a newer group of singers/bands that have been producing German-language pop and rock songs, and apparently that particular well has been dry for quite a while save for a few older bands. Silbermond's sound is much more reliant on a metal-esque sound that melds oddly (yet well!) with very non-harsh female vocals. This particular song is one of their faster-paced and one of their harder-sounding, and I find it very head-bop-causing.Enjoy ^_^ Again, it might be a bit before I can do this again, so I hope you guys like the current offering~
