1) Part four of Connor-as-Dawn fic
here.
2) I watched the presidential debate. It was... kinda boring. NOTHING COULD BEAT OBAMA SAYING ORGIES, I SUPPOSE.
3) I read the Angel novel Book of The Dead cos well it takes place in season four, and I found the writing a bit easier to read (not better writing mind) than the one I started. And I wanted easier reading during my lunch break.
- THE PARTS OF WIN:
- I think they lightened Alexis Denisof's eyes some in the cover picture. They were very very pretty.
- Lilah amusing herself for hours with the image of Wesley being bound by her croonies. OH OTP OF HOTNESS.
- The writer clearly shipped Gunn/Wesley. Gunn always had his eyes on Wes, knew exactly what he was thinking and said more than once that Wesley was his. I'm not a big Gunn/Wes shipper, but I found this hilarious and awesome.
- The bits with Wesley's Daddy Issues. Though I think Roger was too nice. And since Roger made remarks about Wesley only being head boy cos the pickings were small makes me think this was written after Linage.
- Wesley touching the scar on his neck at the right emotional moments.
- Angel not wanting to call Giles because he knew Giles never forgave him for killing Jenny. But mostly because he wanted to talk to Buffy and he couldn't do that. DUMMY. ♥
- THAT'S ALL?
- THINGS THAT WERE COMPLETE FAL:
- Wesley? NO LONGER HAS GLASSES. Because Angel was like I KEEL YOU FOR STEALING MY SON. And Wesley was like I'M BITTER AND I'M GOING TO CHANGE MY IMAGE TO PROVE I NO LONGER NEED MY FRIENDS. I WILL START BY TAKING OFF MY GLASSES. This bugged me so much because I don't even know why the writer gave him his glasses back. Other plot points, I can get do to lazy writing, but that was so random.
- So Angel's like IT'S GREAT THAT CONNOR IS GOING OUT EXPLORING AND NOT MAKING THE PLOT COMPLICATED. Instead of, you know, stalking the kid and making sure he's safe. I realize that having Angel obsess over Connor would make the plot harder to write, but I'd've like some effort. Meaning more than one mention. And like when he angsted about his relationship with Wesley... he like didn't angst about Connor at all. It was very wtf.
- Kay, I know Angel/Cordy was written terribly in canon. But dude. Season four? All About Angel/Cordy. There was nothing really there to signify the closeness the two of them have. It was mind boggling
- In fact, Cordy was written terribly. For one: her visions so no longer cause her pain thanks to being demonized. BIG PLOT POINT YO.
- Oh yeah, speaking of which! Cordy? Kinda possessed in season four. And by the time Fred and Gunn split up for as long as they clearly had in this story, everyone knew Cordy was possessed. And there's no way evil!Cordy would let Connor out of her sight.
- Kay yeah, only Fred calls Gunn Charles in season four. And I'm pretty sure not even in season five does Angel call him Charles.
- CORDY AND WESLEY DID NOT TALK! THIS DISPLEASES ME. IF YOU'RE GOING TO LARGELY IGNORE WESLEY'S ENSTRANGEMENT WITH AI AND ALL THE MAJOR PLOT LINES SURROUNDING CORDY THEN GIVE ME MY BFFS BACK OMG.
- SERIOUSLY DID I MENTION THE PART WHERE CONNOR WAS OFF IN A PLACE HE'D NEVER BEEN AND ANGEL WAS NOT MR. STALKER?
- Okay, I'll grant you that the enstrangement wasn't completely ignored. There were some nice angsty bits about Wesley not really being part of the team. And Angel angsted some when he couldn't get into Wesley's apartment. And, tbh, I actually kinda bought Wesley's relationship with the gang considering the time line was completely ignored and Angel ate the OOC bug and forgot about his son.
- Except with Fred. Wesley should have been a lot more worried about her when she got hurt and you know obsessing over her some. As it is his one of his favorite things to do. I bet you he sets aside about seventeen hours a day to obsess over her. RESPECT THAT.
- Too much focus on an original character I didn't care about.
