Well, I survived my first day back at work. It was kind of strange. In some ways it felt like I had just been there, and then I would have a moment when I would look around and not be able to remember where on earth I would file anything or the password for one of the many systems I use at work. I got a nice welcome back breakfast treat thing, a staff meeting and a meeting with the Acting Assistant Secretary all on the first day back. Add in the 2 milk cow interludes and the sorting through of the many e-mails I didn't already delete from home, and it was a relatively full day. People were really very nice about saying how happy they were I was back, so that was nice to hear. I was pretty tired from an uneasy night and such, but I made it through. And Jillian and J had a good day, I think. It's always good for Dad to get a chance to see what it's like to spend the whole day with the baby. Now I have things to do here at home tomorrow and then it's back to work again on Thursday. Welcome to April!
Now, for a few pictures.
First, here we have the kids in Oklahoma visiting with my husband's grandmother, known as Muffy. How she came to be known as Muffy, I have no idea. I don't know if this is a nickname she had before she became a grandmother (which given the family history seems entirely possible) or if this is what J and his cousins decided to call her. Her name is Louise. However, Muffy is far superior to her late sister's family nickname, which was Sassy Dodo. Don't ask. I don't know. I do know that Sassy Dodo was called this from the time she was a child, instead of Frances. Southern nicknames can be strange.
And here we have a very short story in pictures -- starring Jarrett and Jillian.
Jarrett: "Jillian -- Look at me! I mean it! Now! I am sitting here talking to you. Look at me!"
Jarrett: "See? If you just look at me, everything is great! I like you so much better when you do what I want. Aren't we having fun?"
Jillian: "Hey! I know you! I like you. Where did that bossy intense kid go? He was weird."
