Peter Petrelli has an ability called Empathic Mimicry.  He is able to duplicate and 'absorb' the powers and abilities of others and use them at will.  This can only be done if the power is something that the character was born with as all abilities in Heroes (Peter's included) are DNA based.  When Peter gets a new power, he can't use it very well ( Read more... )
