If Adachi knows Harry's onto him, it would be good motivation for him to want to get at Harry in a way that he's entirely safe, because Harry would assume it was either the experiment or Jareth causing the illusions. And Jareth might want to provoke him into an act of aggression, something that would allow Jareth to destroy Harry without fear of consequence.
Basically, in Harry's canon, he was kind of coerced into a devil's deal with a faerie queen, essentially she gave him some power in exchange for him becoming the Winter Knight (her servant, basically) after a hundred years of mortal life. The fact that he's come into Jareth's kingdom with this power pissed off Jareth, but if Jareth attacked Harry then he'd be risking an attack from the Winter Queen. So he's trying to get Harry to act in agression, so it could be self defense for Jareth to kill him.
