A dump of things

We went and watched this last Thursday night (of course). Surprisingly, there are no Marvel Bros at the showing. But in any event, I do like this movie a lot. People already talked about how this villain is one of the best Marvel villains. He's not terrible and I wish they hadn't killed him off. That's the thing Marvel suffers from: too many one-off villains. He doesn't need to come back and be a recurring antagonist like Loki but I wished he had stuck around to be the antihero.

The rest of the film is great too, with pretty visuals, well-developed side-characters, good female representation, and good music. Probably the only downside of it is the CGI. I think only the hand-to-hand fighting in that casino and the challenge fights were worthwhile. The car chase and end fight was too much CGI for me.

But I think Jabba was pleased by the movie.

On the drama side of things, it's been a little slow. I'm watching The X-Family at the moment and it's really good for de-stressing.

It's incredibly cheesy and silly, two things Taiwan dramas excel at. Though at 50-ish episodes, it's a little long. I'm impatient to finish it so I can start watching The Flame's Daughter when it comes out next month.

It's got Vic Chou and Dilraba Dilmurat plus a bunch of other people from 3310 that I like. I don't even care if the summary I read was confusing to me. Everything looks so good in all the pictures I've seen!

Although all the guys look like their tight pulled back hairstyles would give them headaches IRL after a whole day of wearing their hair like that. Can't China make better wigs by now or give these people better styling?

I'm also watching Candle in the Tomb with Henry. We picked this one for Joe Chen and probably also Henry's love of tomb raiding. So far, I'm enjoying this drama although the dubbing of Joe Chen and some of the characters are off putting. But the drama plays out like a video game (say, Tomb Raider), is sometimes eerie, and - crazily - the director knows when to cut away from bad CGI and/or use lighting (or lack of) to hide bad CGI.

Tall people are obviously scary.

The Olympics are coming to an end and I'm sort of glad. I greatly enjoyed watching it, but it's just so much of a time commitment. Still, I'll try to be good and keep track of figure skating better from now on...although the World's competition after an Olympic year is typically terrible since the good people don't want to try if they already medaled.

I randomly started playing Just Cause again after putting it on hold for a few months. It's fun in the sense that I take out my day's frustrations by shooting people up (sorry, FBI, if you're reading this). But it also gets frustrating in and of itself so I think I'm going to put off playing it some more.

So, that's what I've been doing with my life after I get out of work! Ugh, work.
