The Smashing Pumpkins "reunion" tour. To go, or not to go? That is the question:
To go:
* I was a huge fan of theirs back in high school/early college.
* Billy Corgan already said that they'll be playing songs from albums up until Machina, which is all I acknowledge of their discography.
* The last time I saw Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin was in support of Zeitgeist, which I would like to pretend isn't a thing.
* James Iha will be there.
Not to go:
* I'm old and concerts are becoming less and less appealing. The one I would probably go to would be at MSG, which means taking NJ Transit into NYC and there's nothing more unappealing than U.S. mass transit.
* Billy Corgan and company are (even) old(er) and I would like to remember them in their prime (paraphrasing Scully).
* $85 per ticket (not including processing fees) for not that great seats.
* D'arcy and/or Melissa Auf Der Maur won't be there. They didn't even hire a token cool female bassist.
Knowing that I typically don't get excited about an event up until the actual event, I really ought to weigh my "To go" list higher on my desire scale. I think if D'arcy or Melissa were involved, it would definitely tip the scale towards "To go". And for now, I'm still floundering on "indecisive".
