Scotland: Day 6: Edinburgh and Penicuik
So today was our first venture into Edinburgh. We left over an hour later that planned (as usual) and drove to Penicuik, where we caught the bus the rest of the way into Edinburgh. (Its cheaper that way.) When we got there we had lunch at a restaurant in an old church that isn't used as a church any more. Then, we went up High Street and looked at Edinburgh Castle, but we didn't go in. We're going to devote an entire day to that later on in the trip. Then we started to walk back down. On our way back down High Street, we went down a side street to get some coffee at a place called The Elephant House. For those of you not in the know, this is the coffee house where J.K. Rowling wrote the Harry Potter books.
After that, we finished "exploring" the Royal Mile/High Street and caught the bus back to Penicuik. We bought some groceries and drove home from there.
