I'm tired. I have been impatient lately. I've also had some little moments of joy, but it was joy from having something or accomplishing something--joy about a thing that has already taken place. In contrast, I haven't been enjoying thinking about the future so much these days. I don't think it's so much from anxiety about the future, though, as just anxiety about all the little tasks I need to accomplish to make my plans reality. I don't know why I hate doing these little tasks so much--things like contacting people with simple questions, writing letters, filling out simple applications, then actually getting things mailed... It's embarrassing how long I will procrastinate on these little tasks. --And how much guilt I have to deal with because of that procrastination. I feel all icky just thinking about this.
I've been having lots of fun with food lately. I'm so happy to be eating more and more whole foods. Today I bought a big (& heavy) bag of produce from O'Malia's and smiled on the walk home. Also, tonight I made my own soymilk for the first time! I really want to try it, but it's in the freezer right now to chill, because warm milk = ew.
This morning I woke up to see my apartment aglow with the sun and to hear my neighbors going at it. My bird neighbors, that is. When I came back from Spring Break, the mourning doves weren't living on my windowsill anymore--evidently they either decided not to stay or something chased them away. This morning it was two sparrow-like birds that I don't know the name of. They climbed all over the windowsill and A/C, chirped a lot, and kept taking off into the air with a sudden noisy burst of wings. They hung around until midafternoon. I wonder if they'll be back, or if they were just using the nest as a hotel room. I feel like I should install a mirror and some cheap art on the side of the A/C unit or something.
