Sad news
Got a message from the high school today: The father of one of the students in Ben's grade drowned at Delta Beach a couple of days ago. There's been some stuff in the paper, but I hadn't realized till I got the message. I just feel so terribly for this student because he was always so friendly and happy. He wasn't the strongest academically, but he had a smile for everyone. He always said hi to me in the halls. He does not deserve a trauma like this. No one does.
I'd like to go to the service, if there is one, but the timing is bad. Next week I'll either be at the lake or working. I know I don't have to be there since I never worked with this student, and he may not even know who I am except someone who worked at the school, but I'd like to show support for him and his family. Just wait to see an announcement, I guess.
