Call it Well-Balanced instead of Boring Please

So I haven't been blogging cause my life has been boring. It consists of Reading, Exercising, Working, and Sewing.

Mostly Reading.  I've read five books in the last two weeks.

For exercise I go to karate and run. Karate is fun--I'm really getting back into the swing now, and my flexibility has tripled over the past few months. Today I ran two miles, but I still have to shave two minutes off my mile and a half run before my P.T. test which will be an unknown future date. I can do a mile in 9 imn 15 sec, so it's just a matter of pushing it for that last half mile. However, I kinda gave up on swimming cause I suck at it, but I have a friend who is actually a swim teacher who offered to help me out. Thank goodness.

Subbing has been blissfully boring. I've been working mostly in RRISD high schools, though I did two days in Life Skills (Special Ed) at Anderson Last week which were fun. McNeil is my favorite RRISD school so far because it's about five minutes from my apartment, has great parking for teachers, and an awesome teacher's lounge which is fully stocked with an assortment of tea, coffee, and hot water (all free if you bring your own mug), cheap snacks, and mints. Mmmm. Part of how I read so many books last week was teaching a senior English class at McNeil for two days in which the lesson plan was "read silently for 90 mins" and  I figured it couldn't hurt to set an example.

For my sewing stuff, I've been working through fabric in my stash to make a Regency (Pride and Prejudice era) outfit for Halloween. I've been using the Simplicity patterns based on the Sense and Sensibility patterns, which are pretty easy to follow. I made the chemise a lot time ago but added some nice ribbon trim, and just finished the corset aka "short stays"  today. I'll post pictures...sometime. For the dress, I had a crapload of crappy ultra-white synthetic pseudo satin lying around that DIDN'T get used for my wedding dress, so I bought a $2 pack of RIT fabric dye and now it's a pretty pale lavender syntheic psuedo satin. There are a few little blotches, but it's just for Halloween so I'm not too concerned about. I have the underthings all pretty, so when I want to make a really awesome beautiful regency gown I'll just have to make the gown.
