Ozzfest was just simply amazing. I absolutely love being in that atmosphere with a bunch of people who love metal as much as I do since it is pretty scarce around here. I love watching people getting into the music and loving every minute of it.
Anyways, here is how the day went. I think we all woke up around the same time at 5am. We got ready and etc. then we left the hotel around 6:45am to go eat. We went and ate at the Waffle House...those people were pissing me off so bad because they were taking too long with our damn food and I was in a hurry to get there because I knew it was going to start getting packed very soon. After we ate, we left and took our journey to the Starwood Amphitheatre. It wasn't as packed as I thought it would, but it was starting to be. Thankfully, we were one of the thousands that was there first...that made me extremely happy. We waited for about an hour or so for them to open the gates so we could get our parking places. THEY MADE US PARK IN THE GRASS! WTF! I wasn't took thrilled about that, but I really didn't give a shit because it was getting close for Ozzfest to begin. We got in line and waited for about 30mins for them to let us in. Joseph hid our cameras in his boxers and I was so afraid that they were going to catch him, but they didn't! I was so happy because I wanted some pictures of the bands! We were not planning on being in the front for Second Stage, but my brother wanted to so we did. I will never do that again. My gosh, it was awful. Not only did I get the worse sunburn I have ever hard on my face, chest, shoulders, and back...but the slam dancing and crowd surfing was awesome, but crucial. Joseph was beating the shit out of everybody who was crowd surfing...he would throw them down and start punching the living shit out of them. Especially, when the guy kicked me in the back of the head...it was nice of him to protect all of us though. He is the sweetest hubsters ever! Not only for doing that, but carrying all my make-up and stuff! What guy would do that? It was so hot and the wind would barely even though. Everything was worth it though. I would do it all over again if I could. We only got Slipknot's autograph because we didn't want to lose our places. Only three of them were signing though [Sid, James, and Joey; I think thats right], but it was worth. My poor hubsters got sick and started throwing up. The people were very nice about it even when he threw up on them. I thought that was really nice. I had to take care of him. After getting their autographs; we headed over to Main Stage. The pit wasn't very packed so my mom saved us a place for the front. During Slayer, Joseph got sick again so I had to help him and the guard that was in front of us was a complete asshole. He made Joseph leave and then some motherfucker pushed me out of the way to take my spot. The guard watched him push me out of the way and didn't do shit about it so me and my mom took it into our own hands. My mom kicked him and he started talking shit and we kept talking shit to him. Anyways, we left during Judae Priest because yeah, we think they suck so blah. Plus, we all needed a break from standing all day. We got something to eat and drink then we went back to see Black Sabbath. It was awesome. Ozzy threw out one of his water bottles, except it had lemonade in it or something. Anyways, my brother caught it! I have never seen my brother so happy. It made me happy so thank you, you stupid motherfucking good for nothing bastard who pushed me out of the way. SEE! IN YOUR FACE YOU STUPID CUNT! A lot of people were pissed off that my brother caught it. He did like a 360 flying in the air kind of to catch it. It was kinda weird, but awesome that most of the bands at Ozzfest mentioned our troops and were supporting them. I thought it was cool to see bands like that supporting our troops and the war. It made me respect them even more. Even though there were a lot of "Anti-Bush", but still...it is the thought that counts.
Here is my review of the bands that performed. They are all in order in which they performed. I personally think that the Second Stage this year was better than last year and the Main Stage for last year was better than this years, excluding, Black Sabbath.
Second Stage
God Forbid rocked. They were much better than what I thought. I enjoyed it. It was a nice start. The lead singer had a great voice.
Unearth and Every Time I Die were good. Didn't know them very well until I seen them, but they put on a good performance.
Lacuna Coil was ok. I thought that they would've done better than what they did. I didn't really get into it much...they aren't the best performers, but I still like their music.
Bleeding Through, Atreyu, Darkest Hour, and Throwdown were all good. They all put on good performances.
Otep was awesome. I didn't really like them when I seen them on video, but wow...they proved me wrong. The lead singer was a girl to beat it all. I thought she had a really good voice. She came out of stage with a goat head which, at first, I thought was real. They really got me and I thought they had one of the best performances.
Magna Fi was pretty good. I didn't hear of them until I heard them perform.
Devildriver was great. I am glad that he left Coal Chamber because I like him more in this band. They really got the crowd crazy. Their music sounds like Coal Chamber, but I love his voice. They rocked.
Lamb of God. I loved them. They were one of the best performances too. Believe it or not, the group is from Richmond, VA...not far away from where we live. That made them even better. The lead singer reminds of Chad from Mudvayne. He was wearing an Anti-Bush shirt. The crowd got even crazier when they came out. They are really great performers and got the crowd hyped up.
Hatebreed. I don't really like them all that much, but they put on a pretty good performance. That is when the crowd started slamdancing and moshing more because they encouraged thoroughly.
Slipknot. Best performance of Ozzfest 2004. I would love to see them perform again. That was the best vibe of the concert. I was jammed pack and everyone loved them. They can really work the crowd and they are just amazing. I love them now. Seeing them perform made me feel a lot different about them [in a good way].
We took pictures of every band on Second Stage and I hope we get them developed soon and I'll post them on here.
Main Stage
Black Label Society. We only got to see them perform one song, but of course it rocked. Zakk Wylde is awesome.
Superjoint Ritual. Ugh. The lead singer gets on my nerves and I hated every minute they performed.
Dimmu Borgir. Hate them. Reminds me too much of Cradle of Filth. They are like a Cradle of Filth rip off. They suck in my book and they defintely don't perform well. I don't think many people liked them or got into them much as well.
Slayer sucked. Ugh, they get on my nerves too.
Judas Priest. That is when we took our break. I couldn't handle anymore sucky bands and I don't like them at all. We heard them perform and we are very glad we missed it.
Black Sabbath rocked, of course. Whoever likes metal; you have to respect Black Sabbath. They started metal and they still rock it out! Ozzy moves around a lot better than he did last year. You can understand what he is saying and everything...he doesn't talk like he did on The Osbournes! They were the second best performance. Ozzy is a great man and it is awesome to see that he isn't a "sell out" like most bands.
All in all; this Ozzfest was better than last years because there were crazier people and it was a better atmosphere and such. I can't wait to go to Ozzfest 2005! I'll upload pictures when I get a chance!
