1. Name: nina. some people call me neens… you may if you want.

2. Age: 20.

3. Gender: female.

4. What are your hobbies/interests outside of HP? How do you feel these hobbies/interests contribute to your personality?
I enjoy working with kids. I like to read, watch movies, and listen to music. I think that the things I do contribute to my personality by giving me the ability to reference movies and music in everyday conversations. Although I like to listen to music and watch a lot of movies, I feel like my decisions about what movies to watch and what music to listen to are influenced a lot by my friends. If they tell me that they like a band, I tend to immediately look up the band, listen to it, and, more often than not, fall in love with them or at least one of their songs. I also think that loving to work with kids adds fun and some spontaneity to my personality. It has helped to make me a more fun loving person. I am thinking about volunteering at a local elementary school to help out in the classroom with the kids. I think that would be fun.

5. Which Harry Potter character do you feel you can relate to the most? Explain. Which character is your favorite? Again, explain.
I feel like I can relate to Ron the most. The reason being is that he is kind of awkward in a lot of situations, and he can be quite clumsy, but he still has amazing friends that are there for him at all times. I will elaborate… I feel like I tend to be awkward and nervous in situations where I might be rejected or thought to be dumb. And, just like Ron tried to avoid Lavender when he didn’t want to date her anymore, I try to avoid any kind of situation where I think there would be a major confrontation. However, if I feel strongly about something-especially an injustice-I will speak up about it, and I will make my point known.
My favorite character would have to be the Weasley twins. I love Fred and George. They are just always having fun and doing something new and daring and unexpected. And I love the fact that they have started their own business and are doing so well at it. They also are loyal to their family, and they don’t let people push their family around-only they are allowed to do that. I think that I would like to be a bit more like them. If only because they do what they want, and they don’t really care about what other people think of them. I would like to be more free-spirited like that-just throw caution to the wind and do what I want when I want--, but I think too much about ruining how I look to other people.

6. Give us the reasons for and against you being sorted into each of the houses.
a. Gryffindor
For:
I think I would be a good candidate for the Gryffindor house because I do have high moral standards, and I will stand up for what I think is right. And, in most situations I will take a risk to make sure the right thing prevails.
Against.
I am not always the first to stand up and take action for the right thing which I think Gryffindors are more likely to do, but if other people are with me I am more likely to stand up for my beliefs.

b. Hufflepuff
For:
I am a good listener, and I am always a friend to whomever needs me to be. My friends mean the world to me, and if anyone ever tried to hurt them or wrong them in any way, they would not want to come into contact with me because they would understand that what they did was wrong. I do tend to be accepting of other people’s choice of lifestyle… I may not particularly agree with it, but it’s not my place to tell someone that they can’t live how they want. On the other hand, if they ask me my opinion, I will tell them, but I would make clear to them that I don’t change my views of a person just because I don’t agree with a decision they make-as long as it doesn’t affect their character.
Against:
I am not a pushover-I know not all Hufflepuff’s are, but I am just saying.

c. Ravenclaw
For:
I think I would be good in Ravenclaw because I do enjoy learning new things. If I am talking to someone and a topic comes up that I don’t really know anything about, I will look it up and try to learn as much as I can about it as long as it holds my interest. More on the ‘airy’ side of a Ravenclaw, there are times when I think about random things and dwell on them for longer periods of time. I wonder about how certain things are done, how they were made, and how someone even came up with it in the first place. Usually, in such a situation, I do some research to find out how the object/idea came about until I am satisfied.
Against:
I feel like sometimes I am easily influenced by others thoughts and opinions. I respect others views very much, and there are times when I think that I just accept theirs as better because they have more of a passion for that subject. Also, I have always thought that my views on things are one dimensional-like I can only think about things on one level-and I think that Ravenclaws should be able to think about a subject on every level-in 3d, if you will.

d. Slytherin
For:
I do feel like I want the best for myself. I don’t like to settle for what could be considered mediocre in life. I feel like everyone deserves the best in life, and I am no different. I have a goal for my career-I want to be a teacher-and I have a goal for my love life, and I do not want to settle for second best. I want the best. I feel like I would keep trying until I have what I want in life.
Against:
I feel that although I would strive to meet my goals in life, I wouldn’t do ‘whatever it takes.’ There are lines that are drawn that define where you can go to meet your goals and there are lines that you just shouldn’t cross. For example, if I wanted to be president of a company, I wouldn’t try to weasel my way in by making the current president look bad. I would want to become president because the company sees that I am the better person for the job.

7. What was your least favorite moment in HP?
That would probably be when Snape kills Dumbledore. No matter how many times I read that part I still can’t grasp the situation. I just can’t put my mind around it. Was it planned? Did Dumbledore know all along? Did Snape feel at all bad about what he did? Was everything he said to Narcissa in the ‘Spinner’s End’ the truth? If so, why did Dumbledore trust him? What could Snape have said to Dumbledore to make him trust him so much? It’s just too perplexing for my mind. However, in this terrible moment, comes a glimmer of hope… When Draco can’t bring himself to kill Dumbledore, I see a chance for good in him. I see Draco actually feeling and showing some remorse and compassion. He’s just a scared little boy that is being threatened into submittance-at least that’s what I would like to think.

8. What about HP appeals to you (e.g. the romance, the adventure, the friendships, the fantasy, the mystery)?
All of it. There is no way I could pick which part of it appeals to me more. I enjoy interpersonal relationships a lot, so that is a big part of the appeal, but the adventure and the mystery just adds so much to the relationships that it is all important. One scene in the books that I think really shows this is when Hermione is convincing Umbridge to go into the forest. In order for Hermione to pull it off, she had to have some sort of support from others so that Umbridge wouldn’t think it was just a ruse. Harry played along pretty much right away because he trusted Hermione. He didn’t know what she was up to, and he didn’t really know why she was saying what she was saying, but he stood behind her and trusted her completely. I just think that that shows the trust that is present-or should be present-in every true friendship, and it is shown while there is an adventure going on. Heh. So, I think that it all appeals to me because the strength of the relationships is shown though the adventure and mystery.

9. What would you do if your friend was in danger? What would you give up in order to save them? Would you lay your life on the line?
I would do whatever was necessary to save a friend in danger. If necessary I would give my life. And, I am sure they would do the same for me. I don’t really feel that I need to go any further with this answer because I think my answer is very plain and easy to understand. If you love someone, you are willing to do whatever is necessary to help them-even die.

10. Given a choice between fame and money, which would you choose? Oh wow, that is a hard decision. I think that I would go with the money though. I don’t think I would deal well with people recognizing me everywhere and always bothering me-I would be nice to them, but I would want them to stop. As much as I have always wanted to be a movie star or something to that effect, I wouldn’t want people to follow me around and whisper bad/untrue things about me. Plus, who doesn’t need more money to pay off those bills???

11. If you could only store one memory in the Pensieve to visit over again, which one would it be? Why?
I would probably store a memory of a time when I was with all of my friends back at my college. My friends mean the world to me, and I want to always have a way to revisit them and the laughter they bring me. I spent two years getting to know this group of friends when I was up at college, and now I have moved back home (for financial reasons), and I realize how much I treasure each and every weird, fantastic, annoying, endearing quirk about them.

12. What excites you the most in life? Where do you get the most joy and fulfillment?
Friendship and love excite me the most. I truly get the most joy out of my friends and the love that I receive and give. If I was asked to tell someone how to enjoy their life the most, I would tell them to spend as much time as they could with their friends and family, learn as much as they could from them, laugh with them, go on adventures with them, and just enjoy them as they are-don’t try to change them because how they are is who they are.

13. If you were in Harry's position during the "Snape's Worst Memory" incident, how would you view Peter, James, Sirius, Lily, Remus, and Snape differently? Why?
I would probably view James and his friends as bullies. I would feel like they were just trying to make themselves feel good by demeaning someone else. I would feel a little sorry for Sirius because I don’t think that anyone deserves to be humiliated like that. And I would view Lily as kind hearted because even though Snape wasn’t really anyone’s favorite person, she still wanted him to be treated nicely and with respect.

14. Imagine you were an eleven-year-old Muggleborn witch/wizard who did not know about magic and had just received your Hogwarts letter. How would you react to leaving home and going to a magic school?
I would be scared because the wizarding world would be something that I knew nothing about, but I would also be excited because it would something new and interesting and exciting to experience. All of my friends that I would have had prior to finding out about Hogwarts would not be able to be involved in this new world, and I think I would be sad to leave them behind. At the same time, I would probably realize that I could make new friends and learn about something entirely new and intriguing… and that would excite me immensely.

15. If you had access to a time turner and there were no regulations regarding its usage, what would you use it for and why?
I would probably use it to go back and savor the small amount of time that I had with my boyfriend when he was in town. I only get to see him MAYBE two times a year because he lives in New York. I have known him since kindergarten (5 years old), and we have been ‘together’ for about 2 years. It’s hard to keep up a long distance relationship, but I am hoping it gets a little easier when he moves down here next summer. :-D However, in the meantime, I would like to go back to the times we had together and just revisit them over and over again, so I could just be with him and enjoy his company.

16. In the Philosopher’s Stone (AKA Sorcerer’s Stone) Neville had a choice: he could let his friends go out at night when they weren’t supposed to and potentially they could lose points for his house, or he could confront them and stop them from breaking the rules. What would you have done in his situation?
I would’ve warned them not to go. I would try to convince them that it wasn’t a good idea, they could get in trouble, and it wasn’t fair that they were putting the rest of the house in jeopardy. Plus, if I am a true friend, I would want to prevent them from getting into any kind of trouble or danger.

17. Who (dead, alive, or fictional) do you most admire? This can be someone from real life or from Harry Potter.
I admire my mom for her dedication to providing the best for her family, and staying true to who she is. She has worked her entire to be able to live a semi comfortable life, and she does her best to provide a comfortable and happy life for her children too. She is self disciplined and hard working and motivated to get the things done that need to be done.

18. What is your favorite book outside of Harry Potter? What is it about this book that endears it to you?
I really love The Notebook. It just makes me feel like true love will prevail over all obstacles in the end. I love that they met when they were so young. I love the fact that they fell for each other and became inseparable. I love that when they grow old, and she can no longer remember who he is, he still stays near to her because he loves her that much and she is his one true love. Unconditional love is the best.

19. You're sitting the final examination for a class that has given you a lot of trouble. Your grade is borderline; you really need to do well on this final to get an A. You can see the paper of your friend who sits next to you and who happens to excel in this subject. You've gotten to a question that you're stuck on. Do you glance at your friend's paper to figure out the answer or not? Why?
No! I do not look at their paper for the answer. That is just not honorable and not in my character. I feel like if I don’t know the answer to the question then I must not have studied hard enough. I shouldn’t take someone else’s answer just because they know the right one. I am being graded on my knowledge of the topic not someone else’s.

20. In Goblet of Fire, Harry was chosen for the Tri-Wizard Tournament even with the age-line. Ron was unable to enter because of the age restriction even though he really wanted to be a part of the Tournament. Was Ron right to be jealous/angry at Harry? Were Harry's reactions appropriate? Why?
I think Ron had a right to be jealous at first, after all, I think that if Ron could’ve entered he would’ve. But, I think that once Harry told him that he didn’t enter himself, Ron should’ve gotten over it and stopped being angry at Harry. It wasn’t his fault he was put in the goblet. I think that Harry had the right to be angry back at Ron because Ron just couldn’t accept the truth that Harry told him. However, I do not think that their little fight should have lasted so long… they’re friends!!! Stop being so stubborn and be friends again!

21. Which class would you look forward to the most at Hogwarts? Which classes do you/did you excel in most at school?
Transfiguration. I would love to turn one thing into something completely different. The thought of turning a box into a television, or a few papers into a whole book is fascination to me! At the moment in school, I do well at literature and some math. I used to be really good at math, but now I am struggling a little bit. However, I have decided that I need to just study and learn to do well at it again!

22. What would be the first place you visit during a Hogsmeade weekend? Why?
Probably the candy shop because I can’t help but have a sweet tooth. I get it from my dad. All of my life my dad has been obsessed with candy-chocolate in particular-and that love of candy definitely didn’t skip a generation. I can’t let a single Easter go by without eating at least one bag of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs and a few Cadbury’s Crème Eggs. Mmmm…

23. In the wizarding world, all 5th year students are required to pick a career to focus on going into their 6th and 7th years at Hogwarts. What career path would you choose? Why?
Teaching. I would love to impart any knowledge that I have gained to others to help enrich their lives in whatever way possible. Also, I just love children. I think being able to work with people in the years that they are really developing is such a great opportunity to impart wisdom.

24. In the Wizarding world, some pure-blood wizards consider Muggle-borns "filthy" and "horrible." In our world, people are categorized by their wealth, racial background, and appearance. What are your opinions on Muggle-borns? What are the qualities that you value in others?
I think muggle-borns are just as worthy to be witches and wizards as pure-bloods. If you have the talent, why should it matter where you come from? It shouldn’t. I think it’s horrible that certain people didn’t want anyone but pure-bloods to be able to enroll at school. If you have the talent, and you want to learn, then you should be given the opportunity. I value the true character of others most. I value their thoughts, opinions, and their morals. I think that that is what truly makes up who a person really is.

25. You have stumbled across five magical wells. One is the Well of Common Sense and Logic, the second is the Well of Creativity, the third is the Well of Optimism, the fourth is the Well of Physical Strength, and the fifth is the Well of Beauty. You can only drink from one well, but once you do you will be endowed with that ability for the rest of your life. Which well do you think you would definitely not need, and which do you think you would want to drink from?
I would not need to drink from the well of optimism because, quite frankly, I think I am a pretty optimistic person. I feel like I try to see the silver lining in almost every situation. I don’t like to have a reason to be sad about something, so I have to look for the good in every situation.
I think I would drink from the well of creativity because a lot of the time I feel very incapable when it comes to being creative. A lot of my friends are incredibly creative whether it be with a paintbrush, a guitar, or their voice; and sometimes, I just feel like I am just in the audience watching someone else do something amazingly creative while I just comment on how great it is, and how I wish I could do that.

26. In Half-Blood Prince, we witnessed Harry force-feeding Dumbledore the potion that weakened him, even though it pained Harry to do so, because he promised Dumbledore he would do whatever he wished. If you were in Harry's position, would you have stopped feeding Dumbledore the potion, or would you have continued? Do you think it was right for Harry to do as Dumbledore wished? Explain.
I would have continued feeding him the potion. Dumbledore must have known that something horrible could and would happen while retrieving the horcrux, and that is why he made Harry promise in the first place. Harry made a promise, and he should stay true to his promise. So, yes, I do think it is right that Harry did as Dumbledore wished. Yes, it did weaken Dumbledore greatly, but then again they did get a little closer to eventually beating Voldemort. At least I think they did. Who is this RAB? Regulus Black, maybe?
