* I'm not trying to be pretentious in this, I just put effort into my responses. Sorry if it's... too long?
THE APPLICATION
THE BASICS:
Name: David Gunn. The people in my area always call me by my first and last name, always, so I started to write my name, "davegunn."
Age: Seventeen. Eighteen next month.
Location: Schenectady, New York. The worst of upstate New York. No one deserves to be born here, and no one comes out of it alive and well.
Gender: Boy.

Best show you’ve ever been to & why: It's a tie, 1.) seeing Mindless Self Indulgence in Connecticut with Suicide City and The AKA's, and 2.) seeing Nine Inch Nails in Boston. They're my two favorite bands of all time, so it meant a lot to see them in general. MSI put on such a fun show, they never get boring, they play long and energetic sets, and they always hang out with you afterwards. NIN's music is beautiful and reflects every emotion I've ever felt, so seeing them means a lot. During "Eraser" and two other songs, they drop a screen and play a collage of beautiful footage of animals, death, war, Americana, and it just... pounds you in the chest.
One CD that you can’t live without [no more, no less]: Nine Inch Nails, "The Fragile".
Do you play any instruments? If so, which one[s]? Keyboards and piano. I can also play a little drums, but not as good as I can on the keyboard.
Are you in a band? If so, any link[s] to your music? I'm in a Nintendocore band called
Chaos Con Queso. I warn you, we've just started and have a lot of work to do. Plus, we use an mp3 player to record us, so the quality is horrible. I play heavy keys in it, but you can hardly hear me.
Name ten songs for the soundtrack of your life:
01.) "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails.
02.) "Adam's Song" by Blink-182.
03.) "Should Have Been A Girl" by Switchee.
04.) "So Low" by Self.
05.) "Speed Of Dark" by A Wilhelm Scream.
06.) "Poison In My Veins" by Bayside.
07.) "Miracle" by Rock Kills Kid.
08.) "Let's Get Fucked Up and Die" by Motion City Soundtrack.
09.) "Kill the Rock" by Mindless Self Indulgence.
10.) "What If" by Plain White T's.
MOVIES:
Favorite movies: 10 Things I Hate About You, 11:14, 12 Monkeys, 13 Conversations About One Thing, Almost Famous, American Beauty, American History X, American Psycho, The Anarchist Cookbook, Bang! Bang! Favorite actor or actress: Kevin Spacey, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Philip Seymour-Hoffman, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Morgan Freeman, Edward Norton, Chloe Sevigny.
The last movie you watched: Broken Flowers. I didn't like it. I don't like Bill Murray and this movie kinda dragged on and was too vague, even for an attempt at being an abstract film like Barton Fink.
Do you go to the movies often? The only non-commercial theater that shows indie films near me is an hour away on bus. I go there probably once a month and typically see two movies in one day. I do, however, rent movies from Hollywood Video every week, and have an extensive Netflix list, so I always have movies to watch.
LITERATURE:
Favorite books: Choke and Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, and Stupid White Men and Dude, Where's My Country?! by Michael Moore, and Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel. I don't read as much as I used to because of severe headaches, unfortunately.
Favorite author: Chuck Palahniuk.
Favorite children’s book: Beware of Kissing Lizard Lips by Phyllis Shalant, for some odd reason. I don't even remember what it was about. I just remember reading it about three consecutive times.
Do you write yourself? If so, what kind of writing? Writing is my life. I've had my DeadJournal for over three years and it has most of my life in it. I also write poetry and songs and sociopolitical rants here and there. I aspire to be a professional writer one day, through any medium.
BECAUSE WE EFFING CAN:
Hobbies: Playing Scrabble at Denny's in the middle of the night, fingerboarding, writing, playing keyboard and piano, watching movies, graffiti stenciling.
Define “indie” [it could be a dictionary-type definition, or just what it means to you]: Simply, independent. I usually associate it with abstract, creative, artistic, non-commercial media that isn't motivated by money or fame. Sincere and meaningful lyrics or dialogue. Those sorta characteristics.
How'd you get into indie music and movies? I'm not sure. I'd read underground music magazines and would literally look every band I didn't know up on the Internet. When I really like a movie, I look up the actors and writers on imdb.com, then gradually see every single one of their movies. I also take the suggestions on forums and Netflix.
How’d you find us? My girlfriend,
asthenia18220, showed me you guys.
It would be super nice if you could promote us in your userinfo or a community... super, super nice: I will, in my journal, eventually.
If you had duct tape, a tree, allergy medicine and a penny, how would you save the world from a giant-monster-like-thing trying to eat it? [you must use all the items] The world is better off dead, so I'd probably duct tape everyone to trees after sedating them with overdoses of allergy medicine, and let the monster-like-thing do the rest.
Fill in the blank: Tomorrow is another boring day that I'd prefer to sleep through.
Do you ever get told that you look like someone famous? No. Never.
One thing about anything that you wish you could change: How horrible, amoral, fake, selfish, and destructive the human race is.
What are your opinions on politics? Politics are depressing. I don't like the United States (its people, its government, its freedom facade, or its history). I'm an atheist and would like to see less religion in our policies. I'm for same-sex marriage. I'm for animal rights and have been a vegetarian for about three years. I don't really like any economic system. I'm also against population increase (I think people should stop giving birth) and the curing of diseases (they help stabilize the population). All in all, I just wish we could all coexist peacefully, without violence or prejudice or environmental destruction or politics, as quixotic as that sounds. I could go on and on.
Make us laugh: Go listen to Demetri Martin. He'll do a better job than I could. I'm a grouch.
Pictures [this is optional, we just kind of want to make sure you're not some really creepy old guy]:
I have a stupid haircut: what I call a "nohawk" and pigtails. Please don't make fun of it.
Thank you, sirs and madames.
