it's almost 10am. it's my last real day in the city; i leave for arizona for exactly one month on sunday. i'm watching msnbc obsessively, as i have all summer. there's a huge crime wave in washington dc right now. great. i'm spending today on the lower east side, getting biyalies and cupcakes and pickles and going to museums and shops. then dinner with the family - for the last time!

then tomorrow - www.villagevoice.com/siren - with jackie, etc. big crowds, heat, good music. it'll be like a one day, free version of vegoose. a good 'ending' to my summer (i am so ridiculously sentimental).

my computer died early this week. i think it's for real. as in, forever. and i think i lost all of my pictures from this summer, and whatever else i had yet to back up on it. damn technology.

my aunt is in the hospital. i know i made the right decision going back - i need more time to get ready to move, and i also need to spend some time with my aunt right now, while life is calmer (for me) and i don't have committments elsewhere.

i also have three books on jewish social justice waiting for me to read at home before the job starts - i do need 'brush up' on my judaism, it's been awhile since i've done anything jew-related.

i'm dragging jason to willow house on sunday night when i'm home. i haven't been there in so long, and erin and i have talked about it excessively this summer. although i think we do everything excessively together - drink, eat, talk about our past relationships, reminisce about high school, make fun of each other about badminton... it's so great that she's been here, it was a random re-connection but definitely a positive thing.

i'm coming back to ny in august for ethan's quinceniera. erin and i are cooking the mexican food. yes, we are both white, and yes, he is a white jew from michigan.

that's not the point. :)

off to breakfast. yeahhhhh new york bialyies!!!

p.s. my run-down of new york cupcakes is forthcoming... one more shop on my list to try today.

(i am such a dork.)
