Ohio State have the best fans. Ever.

So there was an uber-hyped football game on today: #1 OSU v. #2 Michigan (in case you hadn't heard). I'm not going to get into the fact that bitter conference rivals who are ranked #1 and #2 in the country playing each other is far from a rare occurence. (See multiple Big 12 match-ups for examples, particularly the harsh Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry.) At least the game was close and pretty much lived up to its hype.

However, I was running errands during the first half of the game and happened to be at Dick's Sporting Goods picking up skiing gloves during kick-off. They had a bunch of TVs showing the game in the work-out equipment area, so I decided to watch for awhile.

Shortly after making myself comfortable on a Bowflex (the closest I'll probably ever get to using one of those), this distraught female shopper came over to get a closer look at the screen.

Her: "OMG!!! Michigan is beating Ohio State?!?! OMG! No, this can't be happening!"

Me: "Don't worry. It's still really early. OSU just needs to get their jitters out."

Her: "You don't understand at all! I went to OSU and I've been talking so much smack about this game at work all week. I've been waiting for it all week! This game is intense."

Me: "Honey, I'm a Nebraska Cornhusker. Believe me. I understand."

What I wanted to say: "If you're such a hard-core fan, why the hell are you out shopping during THE game of the season?"

Sheesh. Some people take so much for granted.

"Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory."
