ood evening, my sweet gooseberries~☆
ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
I was going to post some Cool Things (yes, I am running out of coherent headings to group my scavenged links under), but it got late, so instead I thought I'd show you some (very selected) pictures of my university in Autumn.
Ha ha ha, cuts are for losers and people who care about your friends pages~~~
ヾ(`◇´)ノ
Just outside my Humanities department. Shocking shot, what with the lightpost and all, but I couldn't resist showing the lovely leaves and sunlight - this is my favourite thing about Plane trees, which are my favourite non-blossom tree (plums and sakura being my favourite trees of all).
These were fun to play in~~~
Another shocking shot (°д°;)
Believe it or not, this is an actual building.
I have yet to snoop inside, since it's the Shiny New engineering pavillion. I hear rumours that there are in fact classes held in here.....
(I did also hear a rumour that they blew a giant chunk of government money on a building that would only showcase things and not be used by students...)
Don't they look delectable?
Acutally, they look rather poisonous, which just adds to their charm.
Curtin students: can you guess where on campus this is?
Dramatic sky over the Architecture Building Of Doom, 201.
I swear, people who have graduated years ago are still traumatised by this building.
After about three or four years I sort of got the knack of it, but gods help me if I ever need to visit a new room...
Hello, Architecture and Health/MedicalCentre buildings~
I can never remember what this grassy court is called, so I always call it the library-engineering grass.
Looks a little like ♪ follow the yellow brick road.... ♫
I also tried to stalk a stray kitten (so cute~!), but to no avail.
Oh, we haven't seen this in a while. Today's list is appropriate!
☆ Makura no Soshi meme ☆
Things that gain by being depicted in a painting
(
Here is the original explanation, in case you missed it. I only have about seven more lists to go.... I'm going to miss this)
Once again, I am also including photos, as they didn't exist in the Heian period.
✿ Sunsets. Sometimes.
✿ Food.
✿ KITTIES
(I follow
@catcafecalico, a cat cafe I visited in Tokyo, for my daily dose of cute kitties...)
✿ Impressions and feelings (Specifically in paintings, not photos).
✿ Long-exposure shots of roads at night.
✿ Fairytales
✿ Information (in this case, I mean graphs are Pretty Neat, guys).
☀ side note: things that do not gain by being depicted in a photo: lolita petticoats. It is the strangest thing, but in photos they just seem to de-poof. Even when I was comparing my mirror image against my camera image, this seemed to happen ಠ_ಠ
Oh dear, I wish I could be more poetic. Sei Shonagon is rolling in her grave.
Also, I have some recipes to share~~! I baked both of these for my 24 Cups of Tea birthday party in May.
(Originally transcribed for a Japanese friend, hence some of the odd phrasing that I am too lazy to retype).
GOD BISCUITS OMFG:
~♛Custard Biscuits♛~
★ 3 cups self-raising flower
★ 2 cups sugar
★ 3 eggs (beat)
★ 250g butter (melt & cool a little)
★ 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
☆ mix the flour, sugar, and custard powder in a bowl
☆ add the eggs and vanilla
☆ kneed into a dough (add milk if it is too dry)
☆ roll 1 teaspoon of dough into a ball and press flat (this should make about 50 biscuits...)
☆ Bake at 160'C for 15-25 minutes
(note, these expand a lot in the oven, so if you cut them into shapes, beware...)
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
(actually, I have a better recipe for these somewhere....):
~♛Almond Biscotti♛~
★ 3 egg whites (no yolk)
★ 1/2 cup caster sugar
★ 1 cup plain flour
★ 250g almonds (whole)
☆ beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until it becomes stiff (this takes a long time. It is ready when you pull the mixer out of the eggs and it leaves behind a "peak" (point sticking up...))
☆ add sugar slowly and keep beating
☆ sift flour
☆ "fold" (mix) in flour and almonds
☆ pour the mixutre/dough into a long rectangle cake tin (or make a log shape on a baking tray if you have no tin - but it doesn't stay in shape well)
☆ Bake at 180'C for 30 minutes
Finally, have you ever heard or watched two celloists ROCK OUT?
Well, now is your chance.
Smooth Criminal on duelling cellos. OMG.
Somehow I'm reminded of Supernatural... (not a good sign).
You don't have to watch it all, but I'd listen to the whole thing; they really bust it out around 3:30.
Coming up next, on The Adventures of Cake:
★ More photos of cakes and dresses and shiny things
★ Cool Things
★ me FANGIRLING THE HECK OUT, because Versailles' new album Holy Grail is only two sleeps away~~~!!!♫♪♫
