veggie tales

It's one week into my vegetarian lenten experience, and surprisingly I'm doing alright. I'm happy that I've kept fish and shellfish in the diet. Its definitely helped getting over the whole meat thing. I accidentally cheated the other day when I ordered gravy on my fries. Those fries were really tasty.

Other tasty things include

Mediterranean Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes )

Is gravy really meat? It's like Italian meat sauce! I'm sure chicken broth is OK too... I just read here...

Abstinence does not include meat juices and liquid foods made from meat. Thus, such foods as chicken broth, consomme, soups cooked or flavored with meat, meat gravies or sauces, as well as seasonings or condiments made from animal fat are not forbidden. So it is permissible to use margarine and lard. Even bacon drippings which contain little bits of meat may be poured over lettuce as seasoning.

I guess I didn't need to remove those bacon bits. But to me that's being a bit too lenient.

"accident?" you knew full well that was meat gravy on those tasty, tasty fries.
I'm not sure how I like this "no chicken" noodle soup I am having for lunch today..always wary of soy that is processed to look like meat. How is that healthy?
BTW, if you ever want to meet up for dinner at my friend's vegan cafe downtown let me know! It's called Java Green.
