I can't believe this is happening.
I went to work today, which seemed to be like any other day, and Mike was like "Come here, we need to talk to you." I didn't suspect a thing.
So I went into Laureens office and sat down with her and Mike and he was like "We have some really bad news. They are doing away with your job."
I was so shocked. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My eyes filled up with tears as I finally realized what it meant...
They then started talking to me about why I was being laid off... though I didn't really care. All I could think about was trying not to cry too hard.
They both said they were going to try and help me find another job, that it was out of their hands, that it was unfair, that they just found out this morning...
They said they pleaded with the managers to get around the lay off any way possible but there wasn't anything they could do. There was a lawsuit in California... and most brokerage firms are doing away from employees paying employees.
Susan, another team member, has to take the Series 7 exam and become registered or she'll be laid off too... and she isn't going to pass it. She didn't go to college.
I just really had no idea... it was such a shock. I felt embarassed to be crying but at the same time, I couldn't help it. Laureen started crying too. It was horrible.
I left early today because I couldn't stay there, it was too emotional. I loved my job and I loved the team I worked on... I was hoping I was going to stay there a long time... but that just goes to show you how quick things can change.
I'm going back tomorrow and Friday to try and teach them my job in two days... they'll have to take over what I do.
It's just not fair.
