Summary: Three things the navigator of the Star Trader did really well: find trouble, lose ships, seduce Goddesses.

The two generational ships, each dome of the wheel around a central control hub the size of a small town, had opened fire upon each other with enormous laser cannons and smaller barrages of torpedoes and cluster lasers. Their orbiting moons, also filled with maintenance and security systems, spun around them, spraying an arc of laser fire like a dragon's tail in their path.
"Tens of thousands of people live on board that ship," said Adol, navigator of the 'Star Trader' expedition ship. A tiny shuttle with twin lasers that were only dangerous because of the weird psychic energies that were sometimes channeled through the ship, borrowed from whichever higher entity Adol happened to be flirting with this week, the whole idea of the 'Star Trader' was that larger threats found it difficult to pick up on their radar. Particularly when it was cloaked, hiding its electronic signal and moving at full speed.
"How do you know? We're not close enough to scan," said Captain Laxia, "We don't know which are hostile. We have to assume it's both and be very careful."
"That one over there's cursed. I can feel the malign energy pouring off it," reported Adol, "Well, not me personally, but I keep dreaming about this blonde lady in a red dress who shines with a..."
"Oh, not again," Chief Security Officer Geis sighed and rolled his eyes at Chief Engineer Dogi.
"There's no getting around it, you know," said Dogi, "We're gonna end up in the thick of it one way or another. And we'll probably lose this vessel."
"We had better not," Laxia warned him, "That'll make five this month."
"We always get out safely, don't we? Relax. A place this big is sure to have better shuttles than this thing," Sahad, their Pilot, grinned broadly.
Laxia sighed, "Okay, bring us closer. Full stealth. Adol, keep reporting what your visions tell you. Geis, prepare us for possible engagement with the enemy."
"Aye-aye, sir!" Adol was about to salute but then he was almost thrown off his feet by a vivid image of a leering, demonic visage formed of a thousand raging emanations of dying stars.
It spotted him and roared its fury.

Title: Weapons for a Revolution
Fandom: Cthulhu Saves the World/Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Characters/Pairings: Ember/Sharpe, Malos
Rating: PG-13

Summary: They hear there's a world where it's normal to be in a romantic relationship with your sword.

"I'm not quite sure what you mean, apply to be a Blade," the recruitment officer tried his hardest to look up at the ten foot tall red-scaled dragon without showing fear or revealing that the crick in his neck hurt like hell. He tried to ignore the talking, floating sword altogether. Dragons he could more or less cope with - he would just assume the gentleman has Titan blood. The talking sword, however... the weapon forms of Blades were probably sentient but they certainly didn't move around and talk under their own power. Wasn't this a security risk? Whatever, he thought, the bastards will probably take over all our jobs one day quite soon. Nothing like an employee who doesn't need food or rest and who does everything you tell them to. Assuming that's actually what the talking sword variety still did.
"Do you mean that you're Blades who became somehow lost and wish to be re-entered into the system?" he asked.
The red dragon shook his head from side to side ponderously, sending puffs of smoke out of his nostrils, "Did my partner just say that he will be the Blade and I will be the Driver?"
"Sir, I'm afraid it's not possible for a Blade to take a Blade."
"Do not tell me what I may and may not do in my private life," the dragon turned on his heel and stormed off again, sword floating behind him at shoulder height and making similarly offended noises, although involving less random jets of fire.
"Excuse me, sir," another voice whispered from the shadows. Ember turned to peer down one of Torigoth's many back alleys. Leaning on a stack of crates was a spiky-haired man in an advanced looking suit of combat armour.
"You seem to be strong Blades, and also appear to be having trouble getting your point across to the soldiers," he smirked, "I can help you find allies. People who can accept you for who you are. People who understand that to be different can also mean to be superior, and that such advanced power does not necessarily have to come with chains to hold you back just to make others feel more comfortable around you."
"Hm? We just want to get married, and we heard this world has a way to marry your sword even if you're not also a sword."
"Marriage? True, confirmed love between two Blades, without Drivers involved? Yes, that would be an important and welcome precedent," his eyes grew genuinely soft, "If only... no, there is no time for regrets. A revolution is brewing. You do understand, don't you, that we are not well liked in society, and that joining us will not make you any more popular with the outside world?"
Ember shrugged, "We worked for Cthulhu over the course of an entire epic quest. He turned out to be an okay guy, as long as you weren't on the world he wanted to eat, so we're open to believing you guys aren't too bad either."
"A... devourer of worlds... yes, I suppose it could come to that..." he sighed, "Come, we must be gone before the Special Inquisitor finds us."
"And then we can be Driver and Blade and get married?"
Malos sighed. These fools really did act as though they were new to the world. What strange business had he gotten himself into?
