I got out and voted. In a lot of places, who gets into public office seems to be a forgone conclusion, but there might be a few surprises. My district is expected to vote as it has for as long as I've been here.

Am I having a panic attack, or is this newest questioning of our basic rights a signpost on the road back into slavery? I study history. The reasons for the Fifth Amendment seem pretty easy to understand, but now some politicians want to effectually end it! I have not posted for quite a while, because I have had little to say. I no longer pay attention to politics, except to vote. Maybe I should say that I do pay attention to what my political representatives do, but I do not read what others think about them, nor do I watch TV. The NFL and MLB lost me years ago when they started talking about things other than the game. Even my dad has declared that he will check the stats in the paper rather than watch political stuff invade his enjoyment of sports. The surest cure for depression is to turn off the television and to stay away from newsprint. I did this long enough to remember to read the Word again. Some Atheists like to rail against God by pointing out supposed contradictions*, but long ago, I quit engaging them. I was raised by an Atheist, so I know that these arguments usually go nowhere. Individually, we decided to pray for peace. Then, we discovered that others had also decided to pray until it became a NATIONAL movement. Unlike the disruptions, there is no central organization to our movement. We just wanted peacefulness.
