Proverbs 18:2 "A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself."
The battle cry of my generation was "If it feels good, do it!" Younger generations can thank us for this world we have. Another telling section of scripture is Psalm 14. It starts with, "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God..."
What are we to understand? God's Word contains all that pertains to life and godliness, 2 Peter 1:3. Does this understanding come from commentaries and Church doctrines? Where those written by man or by God? God tells us to read His Word for ourselves. He tells us to study. He tells us NOT to be ignorant of the work of ministers, of what Christ accomplished, of the history of God's people, of Christ's return, nor of the fact that in due time God ALWAYS keeps His promises.
He lets us do as we will. We all have the free will to think our own thoughts. We can do what we want with the conditions we have. With that free will and God on our sides, we can change our circumstances. God gave us the power to act according to His Word. He will fight for us.
Joshua 24:15
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
In place of "Amorites", place anyone or anything that seems more important than God. Is it politics? Is is a philosophy? Is it something you own? Is it family? God's Word reveals God. God supplies all our need. Choose. Choose daily.
