Man was attacked and bitten by a guy who chewed and swallowed the bit of skin he bit off. Attacker had been recently released from hospital for treatment of a zombie bitefinger injury.

Of course, it could just be an average Saturday in New Orleans.

Daniel Craig is edging ahead of Connery in my mind as the best Bond. The next movie will probably put him far ahead. Fuck gadgets and cheesy one-liners; the new Bond is straight out of the book -- just classy enough, and his classiness is a obviously a very studied act, to trick people into letting him kill them ( Read more... )

We went to the gun store today, and he has an actual US Government Remington-Rand 1911A1 pistol on consignment for $650. Book value is $2000, but it's going cheap because the previous owner put stupid huge target sights on it. I must have it. I've wanted a 1911 since forever, and it MATCHES THE TYPEWRITER. I'm watching 2001, and during the approach to the space station, the engineer part of me started wondering how they lifted it. Obviously in small pieces; most likely 260,000 pounds at a time, assuming they kept the heavy-lifter Saturn V instead of the pansy-ass Shuttle. But how many launches would it take?
