would you donate a kidney?
One of my co-workers was gone yesterday. (He had complained of being mildly ill the previous week, so I thought he got sicker over the weekend.) He was there today and another co-worker asked him if he had taken a sick day. He didn't take a sick day for himself, he took a sick day to be with his wife while she donated a kidney to a total stranger. From what co-worker said, she's been planning this for a while and finally got it coordinated with his schedule. While he was telling us this, I was wondering, would I give up a kidney to someone? My gut reaction was no. After he said that he wasn't totally on board with her decision but did support her, I felt a little better. But wow, to donate a kidney out of the generosity of their own heart, I'm in awe of her.
