Oh no! I left way too much work for today! But the premiere was a blast last night, and at least the madden reviews are done...
Diary of a Superhero had its Saint Louis debut last night at the Way Out Club! We had seventeen paying attendees! (We were hoping for at least 15 people to show up, so, success!) Also debuted J-M Rohret's Stray Dog, which went over really well and was very creepy, and had a preview for the indie student film that Casey's been working on with another film company here in STL, Love Real. People really liked DOAS I think - there was good laughter and we sold two copies of the movie! :-) Dan and Robert were really the kind of guys this movie was made for. They had a blast, and I think Ben had a good time too. I love Casey and I was so glad I could be there to support him and help make the night a success.
I will say this though, the new soundtrack for the movie is NOT good. The old soundtrack had some copyright issues so they had to scrap it and redo the music, but the old soundtrack made everything intense and heightened and dramatic, whereas this one just falls flat and doesn't contribute to the momentum of the film, which was disappointing. Though we had lots of good laughs, Casey was very aware of how long the ending drags, and was sad all the fighting was cut so much. I personally wish we could have for our own sake and viewing pleasure a copy of the film as it was originally aired last April, because I think that one was better, despite some of the positive editing changes that have been made since.
But still! People paid to see and own this film! SUCCESS! We had a blast.
