TA goodness

Ok so I haven't been posting, because I've felt like the next time I post, it should be an awesome post about how wonderful it was to see Julia and Heather this past weekend. It really was the break I needed and I miss them very much now that they're gone.

I will get around to posting about that trip.

But first I must say that I was nominated for a teaching award! Each year the department gives a Graduate Student Teaching Award to the best TA. That may not sound like a lot, but there are a LOT of TAs, so it's actually a big deal. There are 4 nominees, based on evaluations and mentor professor recommendations, and they're Me, Luke, Erin, and Frank. It's such an honor to even be nominated, especially in my first year teaching, and especially in such good company. Erin and Frank are both advanced PhD students and well-known to be EXCELLENT teachers. I actually sat in on Frank's class when I was first starting to teach. Anyway, I'm psyched about it. I don't know that I'll win given the competition, but it's still really cool that the department has faith in me. I think Patrick won it last year, which is appropriate because he's incredibly awesome.
