Holy Shit Carlo Ginzburg is going to speak at SLU! I wish I had my copy of his "ground-breaking" book The Cheese and the Worms: The Cosmos of a Sixteenth Century Miller here so he could sign it! That would be sooo cool. (In like, a really really nerdy way.) I read it in undergrad, figured I wouldn't need to bring it to Saint Louis, and yet, this is the SECOND time that I've kicked myself for not bringing it here! (The other time was when we discussed the book in my theory class). This guy is very cool, and one of the reasons I love microhistories. He was also the guy who helped convince the Vatican to open up the Inquisition Archives to historians. I'm excited to see him speak next Monday!
Edit: Oh he's speaking at Wash U. That makes much more sense. SLU never has famous people! Whatever, I'm still going.
