The Saga of the Cornell Quilt is COMPLETE!!!

Jul 24, 2008 01:18

1. Start with Cornell t-shirts

2. Cut the designs out, all the same width but different heights.

3. Arrange them in the hallway

4. Cut out strips of purple taffeta - isn't my method sophisticated?

5. Pin strips of taffeta to the bottom of each t-shirt square

6. SEWING BEGINS! Sew the taffeta to the squares, and then sew it all into a big strip.

7. I have three strips of Quilt!

8. Lay them out, make sure they're all the right length!

9. Cut out the awesome design from the ballroom dance shirt and hand sew it to the shirt square on the quilt.

10. sewing sewing sewing sewing... sewing the quilt strips together

11. Adding the inbetween strips

12. Ta-Da! Most pieces together!

13. Add white satin border (DB might call that "numnums.")

14. Sew it to the soft soft charcoal gray fleece backing, add little places where the front is stitched to the back, and I present, MY CORNELL QUILT!

LOVING IT! It's so soft and warm and huge, and a great way to preserve Cornell memories and tshirts. Cause you can only collect so many pajama shirts. I am going to make one for Sammie of all her softball shirts one day. Now Julia and I each have our quilts, and I can't wait to see Maggie's!
